Hammerwatch is a 2013 hack and slash and action-adventure game by Swedish studio Crackshell. [1] It was released for Linux, Microsoft Windows and OS X in August 2013, followed by released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in December 2017. It was followed by Heroes of Hammerwatch and Hammerwatch 2 .
The gameplay of the game is similar to Diablo and other hack and slash video games. The player is in a castle and must kill hundreds of enemies. Like in the first edition of Diablo, there are no skill trees in Hammerwatch. The player buys skills from traders across the maps. Hammerwatch has six character classes: paladin, wizard, ranger, thief, warlock and priest.
The game was developed by Jochum Skoglund and Niklas Myrberg. It was mainly inspired by the Gauntlet games. [2] The game was put on Steam Greenlight and was accepted on 17 April 2013. [3] A first beta was released in February 2013. [4] [5]
The game was released on 12 August 2013 on Steam and the DRM-free store gog.com. [6]
An expansion for Hammerwatch, called Temple of the Sun, was released on 16 September 2014. [7] It was released for free, as a patch. It contains a new campaign that takes place in the desert. It adds new themes, bosses and challenges.

Hammerwatch received a score of 75/100 on GameFront [8] and a score of 7/10 on Destructoid. [1] Hammerwatch has an average rating of 72 out of 100 at Metacritic, based on 5 critic reviews. [9] It had 2,500 pre-orders and sold 12,000 units on the first 24 hours on Steam. [10]
The game was in the top 30 of the most anticipated indie games of 2013 on Destructoid. [11]

The game was finally released on 1 August 2014. It was met with mixed to negative reception.
Guacamelee! is a Metroidvania action platforming video game developed and published by DrinkBox Studios, initially launched in April 2013 for platforms PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita and was later ported to Windows in August and to OS X and Linux in February 2014. The enhanced Super Turbo Championship Edition was released for Wii U, Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in July 2014 and later on the Nintendo Switch in October 2018. Forced: Showdown is a top-down single-player bullet-hell brawler developed by Danish indie game developer BetaDwarf. The game was released in March 2016 for Windows, OS X and Linux through Steam as well as GOG.com. The game revolves around Contestants fighting for wealth and glory in an ever-changing galactic game show. The gameplay mixes roguelike aspects with a trading-card game. It consists of selecting a champion, enhancing and empowering him and his abilities to battle through hordes of minions and dodging their attacks to survive.
Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer is a downloadable content pack for the action role-playing video game Diablo III. It was announced at BlizzCon 2016. It was digitally released for the PC, Mac, and latest-generation console versions of Diablo III on June 27, 2017. It is included in the retail and digital release Diablo III: Eternal Collection for consoles. The pack adds the Necromancer class to Diablo III.
Book of Demons is an isometric hack and slash action role-playing created by Polish studio Thing Trunk. The game was officially released through Steam on 13 December 2018. The game was originally developed for Microsoft Windows, but the developers informed about plans to release it also on Xbox One. Book of Demons is the first installment of the Return 2 Games series that aims to bring classic hardcore genres to broader audiences. The game features an unusual art style - all elements of the game are visualised as papercuttings and pop-up book elements, and such style defines visual framework for the whole series. The game also brings some novelties to the genre - the card system which replaces equipment and skills systems typical for the genre, the Flexiscope feature which allows players to control duration of a game session and movement restricted to a path which add a tactical element to the gameplay.
