Havana Hopman (born 16 October 2003) is a New Zealand rhythmic gymnast. [1] She represents her country in international competitions.
Havana began rhythmic gymnastics at age seven after a swimming coach told her parents that her flexible feet would make her a good ballet dancer and gymnast. Her ballet teacher later encouraged her to practise rhythmic gymnastics. Her dream is to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Her idol is New Zealand athlete Portia Bing. Outside the sporting hall her hobbies are spending time with family and friends, walking her dogs, baking. [2] In 2021 she began studying for a degree in health sciences at the University of Auckland. She competed in the high jump and coached the school's rhythmic gymnasts when she was in high school. She fell ill with a viral chest infection on her competition day at the 2022 World Cup event in Sofia, she was able to compete at the event, but was later hospitalised in Bulgaria. [3]
Hopman debuted internationally at the 2022 World Cup in Sofia, ending 31st in the All-Around, 24th with hoop, 27th with ball, 35th with clubs and 25th with ribbon. [4] After she recovered competed in Tashkent taking 16th place in the All-Around, 18th with hoop, 14th with ball, 17th with clubs and 16th with ribbon. [5] And then in Baku being 29th in the All-Around, 31st with hoop, 34th with ball, 24th with clubs and 29th with ribbon. [6] At the end of May she took part in the Oceania Championships in Carrara, she was 4th with hoop and ball and won bronze with clubs and ribbon. [7] In August Havana was selected for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, ending 9th in the All-Around, 4th in the clubs final. [8] She ended her year competing at the World Championships in Sofia, being 53rd in the All-Around, 72nd with hoop, 62nd with ball, 49th with clubs and 48th with ribbon. [9]
Laura Yihan Zeng is an American former individual rhythmic gymnast. She represented the United States at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. She swept all of the events at the 2015 Pan American Games and at the 2018 Pan American Championships. She is the 2014 Youth Olympic and 2019 Summer Universiade all-around bronze medalist and the 2019 Grand Prix Final hoop bronze medalist. She is an eight-time national all-around champion, six times at the senior level and twice at the junior level (2013-14).
Linoy Ashram is a retired Israeli individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2020 Olympic All-around Champion, the 2018 World All-around silver medalist, two-time World All-around bronze medalist, the 2020 European All-around champion, and the 2019 European Games All-around silver medalist. She is the third Israeli athlete and first Israeli woman to win an Olympic gold medal in any sport, and the first Israeli rhythmic gymnast to win an Olympic medal. She became the first rhythmic gymnast from outside a post-Soviet republic to win a gold medal at an Olympics where former Soviet states participated. Ashram announced her retirement from competitive gymnastics at a press conference in Tel Aviv on 4 April 2022.
Boryana Nikolaeva Kaleyn is a Bulgarian individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2023 European all-around champion as well as in the team competition, the 2022 European champion with ball, ribbon, and in the team competition, the 2021 and 2022 European all-around silver medalist, and the 2018 World team silver medalist. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Individual All-Around and finished 5th place. At the national level, she is a four-time Bulgarian National Champion.
Ekaterina Olegovna Vedeneeva is a Slovenian individual rhythmic gymnast.
Evita Griskenas is an American individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2022 USA national all-around champion. She represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics and finished twelfth in the qualification round for the individual all-around. She was the most decorated athlete at the 2019 Pan American Games where she won four gold medals and one bronze medal. She swept the gold medals at the 2017 Pan American Championships. She is a four-time national all-around silver medalist, and the 2015 junior national all-around champion.
Sofia Raffaeli is an Italian individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2022 World all-around, hoop, ball, ribbon and team champion, the 2023 European ball and clubs champion and silver all-around medalist, and the 2022 European hoop and clubs champion. She is also the 2019 Junior World silver medalist with rope and clubs. She is the first Italian individual rhythmic gymnast to win a gold medal at the World Championships, European Championships and World Games, and to win six all-around gold medals in the FIG World Cup circuit.
Viktoriia Maksimivna Onopriienko is a Ukrainian individual rhythmic gymnast. She competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, finishing tenth in the all-around final. She is the 2020 Grand Prix Final all-around champion and the 2022 World Games ribbon bronze medalist. She is the 2021 Ukrainian all-around champion. At the junior level, she is the 2018 European team silver medalist.
Takhmina Ikromova is an Uzbekistani rhythmic gymnast. She is a two-time All-around champion at the Asian Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, in 2022 and 2023.
Marina Malpica is a Mexican rhythmic gymnast. She's the first gymnast from Mexico to qualify for a final at the World Championships.
