Henry Burton Shipley (born 10 May 1996) is a New Zealand cricketer,who is a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He plays for Canterbury cricket team in domestic cricket. [1]
Shipley was born in Darfield on 10 May 1996,and educated at Darfield High School. [2] His father James,appeared in one match for Canterbury as 12th man in 1985. He is a second cousin of Burton Shipley,the husband of former Prime Minister Jenny Shipley,and has the middle name Burton after him. His uncle,Mark Priest,also played cricket for Canterbury and New Zealand. [3]
He made his List A debut on 17 January 2016 in the 2015–16 Ford Trophy. [4] He made his first-class debut on 22 October 2016 in the 2016–17 Plunket Shield season. [5] In June 2018,he was awarded a contract with Canterbury for the 2018–19 season. [6] He made his Twenty20 debut for Canterbury in the 2018–19 Super Smash on 23 December 2018. [7]
In June 2020,he was offered a contract by Canterbury ahead of the 2020–21 domestic cricket season. [8] [9]
In December 2022,Shipley earned his maiden-call up to the New Zealand cricket team for their One Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan. [10] He made his ODI debut on 9 January 2023,for New Zealand in the first match of the series. [11] In March 2023,he was named in New Zealand's ODI squad for their series against Sri Lanka. [12] In the first ODI,on 25 March 2023,he took his maiden international five-wicket haul guiding New Zealand to a massive win over Sri Lanka by 198 runs. [13] Later the same month,he was named in Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the same series. [14] He made his T20I debut in the first T20I of the series on 2 April 2023. [15]
Todd Duncan Astle is a former New Zealand cricketer who played for the New Zealand national cricket team. Astle began his cricket career as an opening batsman,representing New Zealand in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup,but over time playing first-class cricket for Canterbury,he morphed into a bowling all-rounder. He made his Test cricket debut for New Zealand in 2012 in Sri Lanka,but did not play another international match until 2015. He represented New Zealand in all three forms of the game,but was unable to keep a consistent place in the team in any format because of regular injury problems and competition with other spin bowlers. In January 2020,Astle retired from first-class cricket to focus on limited-overs cricket. In February 2023 he retired from all forms of professional cricket.
Gampalage Shehan Naveendra De Fonseka Gunawarna Jayasuriya,or commonly Shehan Jayasuriya,is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer,who played for Chilaw Marians in Sri Lankan domestic cricket. He is a quick-scoring left-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. He was born in Colombo,and attended Prince of Wales College,Moratuwa. He announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in Sri Lanka on 8 January 2021 because of him moving to United States to live with his wife and her family.
