2008 United States Senate special election in Wyoming

The 2008 United States Senate special election in Wyoming took place on November 4, 2008, at the same time as the regular election to the United States Senate in Wyoming. The special election occurred to complete the term of Republican incumbent Craig L. Thomas, who won reelection in 2006, but died in June 2007. Despite being a Democrat, Governor Dave Freudenthal was obliged by state law to appoint a member of Craig's party, and selected state senator John Barrasso. He won the Republican primary unopposed, and went on to win the general election to fill the remainder of the term until January 3, 2013.

Hanna Basin Museum United States historic place

The Hanna Community Hall, also known as Linden Hall and presently used as the Hanna Basin Museum, was built in 1890 in Hanna, Wyoming as a saloon by its proprietor John Linden to serve coal miners in the area. In 1981 he moved the saloon into the center of Hanna with the Union Pacific Coal Company's permission. When Prohibition was established it became a pool hall, operated by John Thomas After Thomas' accidental death in the 1920s it became small town's community center. It was renovated in 1931 with company funding. The community hall is now the Hanna Basin Museum.
