The Huawei U2801 is a mobile phone manufactured by Huawei Inc. and is sold in Canada by Wind Mobile and formerly by Mobilicity.

History

Wind Mobile and Mobilicity added the Huawei U2801 to their respective lineups in late 2011 as an affordable phone. At Wind, it replaced the Huawei U1250 as the operator's basic candy bar feature phone.

Features

The Huawei U2801 is a simple POS phone with some multimedia features. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack for listening to MP3 audio files. The dedicated music key opens the Music menu, allowing one to select which files or station they would like to listen to. While in the Music menu, the rewind, fast forward and play/pause functions can be accessed by pressing on the left, right and selection buttons, respectively.

A very basic camera is included for taking quick pictures and videos. The pictures can have a size of up to 0.3 megapixels, while the camcorder is limited to a low QCIF resolution of 176x144 pixels. There is no dedicated camera button, but the camera may be accessed by pressing the right key on the clock screen or by selecting Camera on the main menu. The selection button is used to take pictures or to start and stop video recording.

Networks

In Canada, the Huawei U2801 is sold at Wind Mobile. It is also compatible with many networks in that country, including GSM and AWS-based HSPA+. Once unlocked, it may also be used on Rogers Wireless, Chatr, Fido, Vidéotron Mobile, Mobilicity and Eastlink Wireless.

Criticism

After the Huawei U2801 was first launched, many people were accidentally pocket dialling 911 due to the SOS feature that can be accessed by pressing the top right corner button. Then to call, just press the top left corner button. This dangerous feature that could not be turned off, which resulted in many complaints to Huawei. Huawei fixed this problem by removing the SOS feature. the updated U2801 has both left and right corner buttons as keyboard shortcuts, it was released in 2014.

Sony Ericsson K800i

The Sony Ericsson K800i, and its variant, the Sony Ericsson K790, are mobile phone handsets manufactured by Sony Ericsson. Launched in July 2006, the phones are the successor to the Sony Ericsson K750i. Both of the phones feature a 3.2-megapixel digital camera complete with a xenon flash, a protective lens cover, and a new "BestPic" bracketing feature, and are the first to be tagged with the Sony Cyber-shot branding. The new "BestPic" feature takes 9 full quality snapshots of a subject in quick succession, allowing the user to choose the best shots from them. On the entertainment front, the phones have a media player supporting MP3, AAC/AAC+/eAAC+ and WMA music files and 3GP/MPEG-4 video files. The phones also feature a RDS FM radio, and a Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot for expandable solid state memory. The K790/K800 models are also the first Sony Ericsson mobile phones to use ATI's Imageon 2192 graphics engine, which delivers a full 3D gaming graphics for Java and full support for its 3.2-megapixel camera. LG Chocolate (VX8500)

The LG VX8500 was a slider cellphone-MP3 player hybrid that was sold as a feature phone by LG. It was released in July 2006 for online sale in the U.S. through Verizon Wireless. On August 7, 2006, it was released for sale in Verizon stores. In addition to the original black “Dark Chocolate” model, the LG Chocolate VX8500 was also available in light green, white, pink, and red models called "Mint Chocolate," "White Chocolate," "Strawberry Chocolate," and "Cherry Chocolate," respectively.

Samsung U750 Alias 2

Samsung SCH-U940 is a Verizon Wireless touch-screen phone made by Samsung. The Glyde was based on the popular European Croix, but was later adapted for the United States. It was released in late May 2008 in Verizon stores. As of August 2009, the phone is no longer listed for sale on Verizon's website. The phone features touch screen navigation, a 2.0-megapixel camera/camcorder with flash, customizable shortcut menus, and a full HTML browser. Nokia Asha 303

The Nokia Asha 303 is a QWERTY messenger phone powered by Nokia's Series 40 operating system. It was announced at Nokia World 2011 in London along with three others Asha phones - the Nokia Asha 200, 201 and 300. The 303 is considered to be the flagship of the Asha family.
