In 1992, British group the Pasadenas released a cover of the song, retitled "I'm Doing Fine Now", that peaked at number four in the United Kingdom for four weeks, selling over 200,000 copies in the process. [10] The single was released in January 1992 by Columbia from their third album, Yours Sincerely (1992). It was produced by Ian Levine and Billy Griffin, and also reached the top 10 in Belgium, Greece, and Ireland.

Written as a farewell to her business partner and mentor Porter Wagoner, expressing Parton's decision to pursue a solo career, the country single was released in 1974. The song was a commercial success for Parton, twice reaching the top spot of Billboard Hot Country Songs: first in June 1974, then again in October 1982, with a re-recording for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack.

It was Khan's first hit outside her recordings with the funk band Rufus.
