The All-American Rejects are an American rock band from Stillwater, Oklahoma, formed in 1999. The band consists of lead vocalist and bassist Tyson Ritter, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Nick Wheeler, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Mike Kennerty, and drummer Chris Gaylor. Wheeler and Ritter serve as the band's songwriters; Wheeler is the primary composer and Ritter is the primary lyricist. It is a synth-pop song with influences of pop and lyrically it is a break-up song which expresses the feelings experienced after a relationship has ended. Chapter One: Blue is the second extended play (EP) by American singer Bea Miller. It was released on February 24, 2017 by Hollywood Records. Two more "chapters" (EPs) were released during 2017 as part of her second album, Chapter Two: Red, released on June 2, 2017 and Chapter Three: Yellow on October 6, 2017. The EP is the third and final part of a trilogy of EPs, following the release of the first two chapters, Chapter One: Blue and Chapter Two: Red. It is the last of Miller's releases before the release of her second studio album, Aurora, on February 23, 2018, which consist of all the songs from the three chapters and also five new songs. Miller has described the EP as "It's like you’ve made it out of this situation, and you've gotten past one hurdle in your life, and it's kind of like, 'Okay, I've gotten through one thing, and now I'm ready to face the next'".
"On Purpose" is a song recorded by American singer Sabrina Carpenter from her second studio album Evolution (2016), served as the opening track of the album. The track was written by Carpenter and its producer Ido Zmishlany. The song was released by Hollywood Records as the lead single from Evolution and it was premiered on July 29, 2016. A dance track, "On Purpose" talks about a relationship that was not supposed to happen. It was accompanied by a music video directed by James Miller premiered on her Vevo channel on August 12, 2016. It featured Carpenter walking and touring London.

It was released through Def Jam Recordings on March 19, 2021, as the third track from Bieber's sixth studio album, Justice. The song was written alongside Scott Harris, Aldae, producers The Monsters & Strangerz, German, & Josh Gudwin, and co-producer Ido Zmishlany.
