Integrated Rural Technology Centre is an independent Research and Development organization founded by Kerala Sathra Sahithya Parishad and a grant-in-aid institute of Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Education, Government of Kerala. The institution was established in 1987 and is located at Palakkad district in Kerala.
IRTC has been at the forefront of rural innovation in the country, with several products and ideas contributing to enhance the lives of rural poor. The aim of this organization is to spread Science and Technology among masses and to create a technology- human interface. The institution is constantly working to meet the challenges in front and find amicable and sustainable solutions to improve the standard of life.
IRTC has played a significant role in handholding the local self-government institutions across the state through their project implementation and consultancy support for preparing Detailed Project Reports for various developmental programmes. IRTC has extensively involved in research, innovation and extension activities to empower the marginalized communities across the state. It has contributed much in the areas of women and child development with the collaboration of national and international agencies such as WHO, UNICEF, UNDP, NABARD, DST, DBT, KILA, etc.
IRTC is a Centre of Excellence in Waste Management and an accredited agency of Government of Kerala for preparing watershed DPR.

Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP) is a progressive outfit in the state of Kerala, India. It was conceived as a people's science movement. At the time of its founding in 1962 it was a 40-member group consisting of science writers and teachers with an interest in science from a social perspective. Over the past four decades its membership has grown to over 60,000 individuals, in more than 2,300 units spread all over Kerala. In 1996, the group received the Right Livelihood Award "for its major contribution to a model of development rooted in social justice and popular participation."
The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) was established by Government of India on 3 February 1947 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and later, in 1967, it joined the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) family and emerged as a leading tropical marine fisheries research institute in the world. The Headquarters of the ICAR-CMFRI is located in Kochi, Kerala. Initially the institute focused its research efforts on creating a strong database on marine fisheries sector by developing scientific methodologies for estimating the marine fish landings and effort inputs, taxonomy of marine organisms and the biological aspects of the exploited stocks of finfish and shellfish on which fisheries management were to be based. This focus contributed significantly to development of the marine fisheries sector from a predominantly artisanal, sustenance fishery till the early sixties to that of a complex, multi-gear, multi-species fisheries.

The Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) is a university established by government of Kerala devoted to studies in fisheries and ocean sciences. The bill seeking to establish the university was passed by the Kerala Legislative Assembly on 30 December 2010. KUFOS has its headquarters in the premises of the College of Fisheries, Panangad, near Madavana junction along the Kochi Bypass. The College of Fisheries, established in 1979, was a constituent college of the Kerala Agricultural University. KUFOS is the first university in India exclusively dedicated to studies in fisheries and allied disciplines. The university was inaugurated and dedicated to the nation in a function held at the campus of the College of Fisheries, Panangad, on 20 February 2011.
