Integration is the annual techno-cultural fest of Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata usually held during last three weekends of January each year. It is one of the biggest campus events in Kolkata, and attracts participation from all over the world.
Integration is a relatively new addition to the set of Kolkata fests, and yet, it has already carved out a niche for itself. Integration is already one of the biggest fests in the city and is entirely organised by the students and research scholars of Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). The fest is held in three parts, namely, the Tech Chapter, the Sports Chapter and the Cultural Chapter.
The Tech Chapter is generally held on the second weekend of January. In this part of Integration, they hold competitive events such as hackathons, scavenger hunts, and esports tournaments. The Tech Quiz, which is organised during this part of Integration, is one of the biggest of its kind in West Bengal. Apart from these, there are workshops and seminars on various technical fields, conducted by eminent personalities from the academia.
The Cultural Fest is held within one week after the Tech Chapter. This part of Integration witnesses the active involvement of stalwarts from various fields, like Mr. Sourav Ganguly, [1] [2] Sri Pranab Mukherjee, [3] [4] [5] Mr. Anupam Kher, Mr. Arun Shourie, [6] Mr. Harsha Bhogle and others. The competitive events include debate (Contrapunto), Extempore, singing competitions, photography, movie making, dance competitions, band competition and many other events. Prahelika, the biggest campus quiz in Eastern India, is held during this part of Integration. [7]
The Sports Chapter was introduced in January 2013. It consists of numerous indoor and outdoor sporting events such as football, cricket, chess, bridge, volleyball, etc.Football tournament is one of the biggest college-university tournament in Kolkata. The chess tournament is held in association with West Bengal Chess Association.
The tech-part of the integration is generally for the first two days. Following are the major events under the tech-chapter of Integration :
Integration has a series of online events that starts some days before the actual fest. Myst-IQ is a complete set of puzzles and quiz relying mostly on logic and common sense. Market Mania is a virtual portfolio management game where participants follow the Indian share market in real time, with huge prize money at stake. Code-IT the biggest online coding competition organised by any research institute of India. The participants are asked to come up with the most efficient and innovative algorithm to a coding problem.
Interactive session discussion burning issues of the day. This event in the past has seen celebrities like Pranab Mukherjee, Sourav Ganguly, Arun Shourie, Anupam Kher, Rita Bhimani, Chandi Lahiri, Srijato, Apurba Dutta and others. [11]
Celebrated performers from within the country and abroad set the stage on fire. Fossils, Underground Authority, LRB, Colors, [12] Cassini's Division and Chandrabindoo are some of the esteemed names that have graced Integration. Every year, Integration is graced by the presence of eminent personalities from India and abroad. Events of Integration has played host to some of the most eminent names from the world and abroad. Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Sourav Ganguly, Rita Bhimani, [13] Arun Shouri, Anupam Kher, Harsha Bhogle, Sandip Ray, Joy Bhattacharya, Chandi Lahiri, Chandril Bhattacharya, Srijato, Apurba Dutta is but a poorly partial list of celebrities who have been guests at Integration.
Over the past years, Integration has formed alliances with many noted names of the industry, like Ola Cabs, IBM, HDFC, Eclerx, Havells, LIC, Roland Corporation, Roche, ITC Limited, Tata Consultancy Services, National Insurance Company Limited, United Bank of India, UCO Bank, Punjab National Bank, Coca-Cola and Allahabad Bank.
Integration enjoys national and international media coverage. The Daily Telegraph, The Times of India, The Indian Express, The Statesman, The Hindustan Times, Aaj Tak, ABP News, ABP Ananda, Channel 10, 24 Ghanta, Anandabazar Patrika etc. are some of the leading media houses covering Integration. However they seldom partner on terms of exclusivity with the print media.
2% of the amount collected from sponsorship is usually donated to a social cause. An initiative to make the hostel campus plastic-free was initiated in 2010.
Harsha Bhogle is an Indian cricket commentator and journalist. Bhogle has cemented his reputation for being a notable personality in the global cricket broadcasting industry. He is often regarded as the "Voice of Cricket".
St. Xavier's College is a private, Catholic, autonomous college in Kolkata, India. It is run by the Calcutta Province of the Society of Jesus. It was founded by the Jesuits in 1860 and named after St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit saint of the 16th century, who travelled to India. In 2006, it became the first autonomous college in West Bengal, India. The college is affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Pearl is the annual national cultural fest of BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus. Initially introduced in 2009 as an intra-college festival, a year after the foundation of BITS Pilani, Hyderabad, the fest grew into a national level college cultural fest with participation from more than 50 colleges across India with footfall around 8000. Pearl hosts a variety of cultural events and competitions which include music, dance, literary, photography and quizzing. The fest also hosts talks and pro-shows with celebrities and bands of national and international renown appearing and/or performing during the fest in the 15 years since its inception.
Moksha, the annual cultural festival of Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), started in 2003. It is organised in March. Moksha is a three-day national cultural extravaganza held at NSUT every even semester of the academic year of the college, with the most popular events being Hasya-Kavi Sammelan, FahreChoreography, Fashion show, Pop Show, Rock Show and the Star Night amongst others. It is considered to be one of the biggest cultural fests of Delhi and attracts sponsorships from top corporate houses of India like TCS, Intel and Airtel. The fest is attended by colleges from all over India and has enjoyed the presence of big names from within and across borders, like Edward Maya, KK, Akcent, and Strings, the Pakistani band.
TechXetra is the National Level Annual Techno-Cultural Festival of Tezpur University, India. TechXetra is a combination of two words- Tech and Xetra. 'Tech' refers to Technology and 'Xetra' meaning terrain. It was one of the most common platforms in North-East India to showcase knowledge and intellect. A blend of different technical and management events, it had cultural events as well. TechXetra used to attract enthusiasts from various parts of India. It was one of those technical festivals of North-East India, which reached out to both engineering and non-engineering students. It was sometimes abbreviated as Tx in social networking websites.
Waves is the annual cultural festival of BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. It is a three-day-long festival held in the late October – early November period. Prodyut is renowned as a composer, soloist, fusion, and classical musician, with a wide range of musical albums[6] to his credit. Prodyut Mukherjee is known for Roshni Ho Sarhadon Mein (2022).
The Ultimate Sports Quiz (USQ) is a National level inter-school sports quiz competition that is broadcast on JioCinema and Sports18 in India.
