Srijato Bandopadhyay is an Indian poet of the Bengali language. [1] He won the Ananda Puroskar in 2004 for his book Udanta Sawb Joker: All Those Flying Jokers. In 2014, he won the Filmfare Awards East for Best Lyricist for the song 'Balir Shohor' from 'Mishawr Rawhoshyo '.

Srijato’s poetic composition 'Megh Bodoler Kabbi' has been published in International Kolkata Bookfair 2020 along with another novel Briksha Onubadak. Besides writing poems and songs, he also does anchoring and Public Speaking. Recently he made his acting debut in Srijit Mukherji's film Zulfiqar . He has also attended a writer's workshop at the University of Iowa. [2]

Early life

Srijato was born in a musical family. He lived at Garia and spent his childhood at Kamdohari, Narkelbagan. Srijato is the grandchild of classical vocalist Sangeetacharya Tarapada Chakraborty and nephew of musician and the Khalifa of Kotali Gharana Pandit Manas Chakraborty; his mother is also a classical vocalist Gaan Saraswati Srila Bandopadhyay. His early schooling was completed to Jadavpur Vidyapith and he graduated from the Asutosh College, a University of Calcutta affiliate. [2]

Subsequent career

Srijato started his writing career in the 1990s. He currently lives in Selimpur, southern Kolkata with his wife Durba. Having worked as a journalist, he is now on the editorial board of the magazine "Prathama". [2]

Works

His notable works include Chotoder Chiriyakhana: The menagerie for kids (2005), Katiushar golpo: Tales untold (2006), Borshamongol : The monsoon epic (2006), Okalboisakhi: Storms unprecedent (2007), Likhte hole bhodrobhabe lekho: Write politely, if you have to (2002), Ses Chithi: Last Letter (1999), Bombay to Goa (2007), Coffer namti Irish : Irish Coffee (2008), Onubhob korechi tai bolchi : Revealing the feeling (1998).His book of poems, Andhakar Lekhaguchchha was firstly posted in the Facebook by the poet. Every poem of this book is a Sonnet.

He has also written novels. His first novel is "4043".His second novel was published in Pujabarshiki Anondolok, named "Shalimare Shonghat". [3]

Sunil Gangopadhyay or Sunil Ganguly was an Indian poet, historian and novelist in the Bengali language based in the city of Kolkata. He is a former Sheriff of Calcutta. Shamsur Rahman was a Bangladeshi poet, columnist and journalist. He was regarded as the unofficial poet laureate of Bangladesh. <i>Mishawr Rawhoshyo</i> 2013 Bengali film directed by Srijit Mukherji

Mishawr Rawhoshyo is a 2013 Indian adventure thriller film directed by Srijit Mukherji, based on the fictional character Kakababu created by Sunil Gangopadhyay. It stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Indraneil Sengupta, Swastika Mukherjee, Aryann Bhowmik, and many others. The plot revolves around a hieroglyphic trail that leads the protagonist to Egypt and underneath a pyramid. The film became one of the biggest hits of 2013 and gained a strong cult following from the audience and critics. The second film of the Kakababu series, Yeti Obhijaan, released in 2017. The third film, Kakababur Protyaborton, released in 2022.

Bikash Sarkar is a Bengali poet, writer, journalist and editor. He is a recipient of the prestigious Jugasankha Award 2010.

Naresh Guha (1923/24-2009) was a Bengali poet. He was born in 1923 (March) in Binnafoir village of Mymensingh district in undivided Bengal. His original name was Nareshchandra Guha Bakshi. He was son of Rameshchandra Guha Bakshi and Indumati devi. He died on 4'th January in 2009. He started his career as a journalist with the Jugantor, where he was friends with Amiya Chakrabarty. He reported on the 1946 Calcutta riots. In the 1950s, he worked as a college teacher, eventually joining the faculty of Jadavpur University. His first collection of poems came out in 1952, titled Duronto Dupur. He later won the Sahitya Akademi Award for his collected poems, titled Kobita Shongroho.

<i>Tonic</i> (film) 2021 Bengali film by Avijit Sen

Tonic is a 2021 Indian Bengali-language family drama film directed by Avijit Sen, produced by Atanu Raychaudhuri and distributed by Bengal Talkies. The film revolves around an elderly couple, played by Paran Bandopadhyay and Shakuntala Barua, who get to enjoy a fresh lease of life through their tourist guide, Tonic (Dev).
