The Indonesian Inter Island Cup (IIC; Indonesian : Piala Antar Pulau) was a national level football tournament held in Indonesia and organized by PSSI as a pre-season tournament during the Indonesia Super League season break. The tournament involved best clubs representing 5 large islands in Indonesia: Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua.

The first edition was originally scheduled in 2009 [1] but was cancelled. [2] [3]

The second edition of the tournament was held in August - September 2010. [4] Malang, the home city of Arema Malang (2009–10 ISL champion) and Palembang, the home base of Sriwijaya FC (2010 Piala Indonesia champion) hosted the event. [5]

Format

The 2010 Inter Island Cup was held with a half-competition system, where the 6 participating teams were divided into 2 groups. [5] In 2011, the group stage featured 4 groups of 3 clubs each, and each game was played for 3 x 45 minutes and had to produce a winner (no draw). [6]

The 2014 Inter Island Cup was the final edition of the Indonesian Inter Island Cup, the football pre-season tournament of Indonesia. The date of the tournament was from 18 January 2014 to 1 February 2015. The final round was postponed to an unknown time because the police didn't give permission, concerning the vicious rivalries between the club's supporters.

The 2015 Indonesia President's Cup was the first edition of the Indonesia President's Cup. The tournament was held to restore the atmosphere of Indonesian football which had been frozen by FIFA. The tournament was held from 30 August to 18 October 2015. The tournament was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in Gianyar, Bali.

The 2021 Menpora Cup was a pre-season tournament held by the PSSI ahead of the 2021 Liga 1. The tournament started on 21 March and finished with a two-legged final on 22 and 25 April 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all matches were played behind closed doors. The 2021 edition was the second edition of Menpora Cup, with the first edition being held in 2013 which was won by Arema who defeated Australian side Central Coast Mariners by 2–1 in the final.

The 2014 Indonesian Inter Island Cup final was the final match of the 2014 Indonesian Inter Island Cup which took place on 5 February 2015 at Jakabaring Stadium in Palembang and was contested by Arema Cronus and Persib.Arema Cronus won the match 2–1 on extra time, following a 2–1 after extra time, for their final fifth Indonesian Inter Island Cup title after the competition was postponed previously.
