International Junior Hockey League was an independent Junior B ice hockey league. The League had teams in New England and Mid Atlantic United States.

League History

The league formed in 2005 out of the Interstate Junior Hockey League with teams based in the Northeastern United States and expanded over the next few seasons. Charlie Nielsen is the commissioner of the league. [1]

In December 2011, the Northern New York Gamblers of Massena, New York opted to leave the IJHL. [2]

In July 2012, the ijhl folded after the "Super Elite" league went under. Most of the "Super Elite" league members decided to create a new league called the Northern States Junior Hockey League (NSHL) so they could resume play in the fall.

As of September 2012 the IJHL lists the following members. The Super Elite League is the IJHL's Jr B league, the Elite league is on par with Jr C.

Philadelphia Jr. Jackals

The Philadelphia Jr. Jackals were an independent junior "A" ice hockey team that played in the Mid-Atlantic Division of International Junior Hockey League Super Elite League. The team played their home games at The Rink Ice Arena in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.

The Cape Cod Islanders were a Tier III junior ice hockey team from Massachusetts. They were most recently a member of the North American 3 Hockey League and played at the Falmouth Ice Arena in Falmouth, Massachusetts. In 2019, they announced they were relocating to Canton, Massachusetts, as the Canton Cubs, but took the 2019-2020 season off.

The Metropolitan Junior Hockey League was an American Tier III Junior ice hockey league with teams throughout the eastern United States. The MJHL was part of the Atlantic Metropolitan Hockey League organization. Founded in 1966 by New York Rangers GM, Emile Francis, the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League played its 50th season in 2015–16. Prior to its 51st season, the league's operations were taken over by the North American Hockey League and it was renamed to North American 3 Atlantic Hockey League (NA3AHL) for the 2016–17 season. In 2017, the remaining teams joined the Eastern Hockey League.

The Island Junior Hockey League (IJHL), also sometimes called the PEI Junior A Hockey League, was a Junior ice hockey league in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Originally Junior B, the league was promoted to Junior A in 1973 after the folding of the Charlottetown Islanders in 1972.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights are a junior ice hockey organization from Pittston, Pennsylvania. In 2015, the Knights' junior hockey organization purchased the dormant Dawson Creek Rage franchise in the Tier II North American Hockey League (NAHL) and placed their Tier III franchise in the Eastern Hockey League into dormancy. The organization has reactivated and deactivated their Tier III level teams at various times, but plans to launch teams in the United States Premier Hockey League's Premier and Elite Divisions, non-USA Hockey sanctioned leagues that operate similar to the Tier III level. The organization also has several youth ice hockey teams in its development program.

Boston Junior Blackhawks

The Boston Junior Blackhawks are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Saugus, Massachusetts. They are a member of the International Junior Hockey League. The Jr. Blackhawks field teams in the IJHL Super Elite League, IJHL Elite League, as well as youth selects and other youth ice hockey levels in other local youth hockey leagues. The Jr. Blackhawks play their home games at the Kasabuski Memorial Ice Arena. The Boston Junior Blackhawks are the affiliate of the Texas Tornado of the Tier II Jr A North American Hockey League.

New England Stars (junior hockey)

The New England Stars were a Tier III Junior "A" ice hockey team. The junior Stars played at the Skate 3 Arena located in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, as members of the North American 3 Hockey League.

Eastern Kodiaks

The Eastern Kodiaks were an independent Junior "A" ice hockey team from Exeter, New Hampshire and played home games at The Rinks at Exeter. They were a member of the International Junior Hockey League from 2008–2012 and played in the New England Division of IJHL's Super Elite League. In 2012 they were a founding member of the Northern States Junior Hockey League (NSHL) but the team folded after one season.

The Jersey Shore Wildcats were a Tier III Junior "A" ice hockey team from Wall Township, New Jersey. They were a members of the International Junior Hockey League, Northern States Hockey League, North American 3 Eastern Hockey League, and the North American 3 Hockey League. The organization continued to operate teams at the youth level.

The New England Knights were a Tier III junior ice hockey team in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). The team played out of Raynham IcePlex in Raynham, Massachusetts. The Knights' organization are owned by Lovell Hockey, which also operates boys' and girls' Knights youth teams as well as the Boston Advantage organization in the United States Premier Hockey League. The junior Knights team was not listed as a member of the NA3HL for the 2020–21 season, but the organization continued to host its youth teams.

North American 3 Eastern Hockey League

North American 3 Eastern Hockey League (NA3EHL) was a USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III junior ice hockey league. The league had teams in the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. In 2016, the league merged with the North American 3 Hockey League.

The Rochester Jr. Americans were a Tier III Junior A ice hockey team from Rochester, New York. Their top team most recently played in the USPHL in the Premier Division while also fielding a team in the Elite Division.

Western Red Wings

The Western Red Wings are a Canadian Junior B ice hockey team located in Abrams Village, Prince Edward Island. They play in the Island Junior Hockey League. Nathan Desroches serves as the team's head coach for the 2016–17 season, while their General Manager is JC Gallant.
