The International Television Expert Group (ITVE) is a global television business information and networking platform. It was founded on October 12, 2007 in Berlin, Germany.

Mission

The International Television Expert Group's mission is to connect television executives from around the world. The group wants to enhance dialogue and improve networking activities for its members and to support global knowledge exchange and international collaboration. In addition, it provides global television market information to the public. [1]

Organisation

The International Television Expert Group is a non-profit and supra-organizational platform, supported by national industry bodies and their members. The group is led by its meeting of members and is managed day-to-day by its managing director.

Members

Members of the group have to be actively involved in broadcasting industries at a proven executive level, and they are typically a member of their national TV industry association. [2] In the beginning of 2010, there were approximately 1,200 members based in more than 100 countries, [3] taking on executive roles at some of the world's leading television broadcasters, such as ABC, AETN, Al Jazeera, ARD, BBC, BSkyB, Canal+, CBS, CCT, CCTV, CNN, Comcast, Constantin Film, Discovery Communications, Disney Channel, Endemol, ESPN, Eurosport, Fox, Globo TV, HBO, IP Network, ITV, Mediaset, MTV Networks, NBC Universal, Nova TV, NTV, ORF, Paramount Pictures, ProSiebenSat.1, QVC, RAI, RTL Group, RTVE, Showtime, Sky Italia, Sony Pictures Television International, STAR TV, Tata, TF1, Turner Broadcasting, TV Azteca, TV2, TV3, TVN, Viasat, Warner Bros., Weather Channel, ZDF, and Zee Network. Activities

The group is operating an information platform open to the public, [6] but also an internal platform exclusively for its members to organize their information and knowledge exchange. It is moderating industry discussions and various professional communities. [7] [8] [9]

In the fields of online media the group manages collaborative projects for its members, such as the "International TV Explorer", [10] a project to identify the world's leading online TV and video portals and to connect the responsible online TV project managers.

The International Television Expert Group is also supporting international TV industry and media policy related conferences around the world, such as the Asian Future TV Conference in Shanghai, [11] and it is providing data on global TV markets, used by many experts and frequently quoted in newspapers, [12] [13] magazines [14] and in science. [15]

The International Television Expert Group is supported by various television industry bodies, such as the Association of Commercial Television in Europe, [16] the Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia, [17] the German Broadcasting Association, [18] or the Ukrainian Television Industry Committee. [19] But it is also partnering with other industry related associations, like the Broadcast Mobile Convergence Forum, [20] the Format Recognition and Protection Association, [21] the International Advertising Association [22] and even with television regulation authorities such as the Cyprus Radio and Television Authority. Euronews is a European television news network, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. The network began broadcasting on 1 January 1993 and covers world news from a European perspective.

Concentration of media ownership, also known as media consolidation or media convergence, is a process whereby fewer individuals or organizations control shares of the mass media. Contemporary research demonstrates increasing levels of consolidation, with many media industries already highly concentrated where a few companies own much of the market.

Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) is a television broadcasting company based in Hong Kong. The company operates five free-to-air terrestrial television channels in Hong Kong, with TVB Jade as its main Cantonese language service, and TVB Pearl as its main English service. TVB is headquartered at TVB City at the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate.

Link TV, originally WorldLink TV, was a non-commercial American satellite television network providing what it described as "diverse perspectives on world and national issues." It was carried nationally on DirecTV until January 2023 and on Dish Network until November 1, 2023. Link TV was launched as a daily, 24-hour non-commercial network on December 15, 1999. It received no money from the satellite providers, but relies instead on contributions from viewers and foundations.

It is a subsidiary of Lopez Holdings Corporation, which is owned by the López family. ABS-CBN was formed by the merger of Alto Broadcasting System (ABS) and Chronicle Broadcasting Network (CBN).

Television has a long history in Ukraine, where regular television broadcasting started during the Soviet years in 1951. However the first ever TV broadcast took place on 1 February 1939 in Kyiv. Since then TV broadcasting has expanded, particularly after the fall of Communism in 1989, and now there are many different channels and groups in the Ukrainian TV market.

KidsCo was an international children's television channel founded and owned by a joint-venture between Corus Entertainment, DIC Entertainment, and Sparrowhawk Media Group in April 2007. By the end of 2007, Sparrowhawk was purchased by media conglomerate NBC Universal, thus giving the company its share in the brand. In June 2008, DiC Entertainment was acquired by Cookie Jar Group, thus also having a stake. In May 2012, Cookie Jar's minority shares in KidsCo were brought by NBCUniversal and Corus, which saw NBCUniversal become majority shareholder with a 51% share while Corus obtained a 43.8% share.

Digital terrestrial television in the Philippines began in 2015 with the implementation of ISDB-T, currently coexisting with analog television that operates on the NTSC standard after the set analog switch-off (ASO) deadline encountered multiple postponements.

The mass media in Ukraine refers to mass media outlets based in Ukraine. Television, magazines, and newspapers are all operated by both state-owned and for-profit corporations which depend on advertising, subscription, and other sales-related revenues. The Constitution of Ukraine guarantees freedom of speech. As a country in transition, Ukraine's media system is under transformation.

BabyTV is a multilingual, international television channel for babies, toddlers and preschoolers aged 3 or lower. The channel is owned and operated by Baby Network Limited, a subsidiary of the Disney Entertainment division of The Walt Disney Company, with Disney handling television distribution. It is headquartered in London and was first launched in 2003 in Israel and 2005 in the United Kingdom. BabyTV is distributed in over 100 countries, broadcasting in 18 languages. The channel broadcasts shows without television commercial interruptions. In the United States, the channel is distributed by Walt Disney Television.

Paramount International Networks (PIN) is the international sibling division of Paramount Global’s Paramount Media Networks subsidiary. The division oversees the production, broadcasting and promotion of key Paramount brands outside of the United States. These brands include Paramount Network, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, BET and Colors TV, as well as CBS-branded channels, which are co-owned with AMC Networks International. PIN also owns a 30% stake in the Rainbow S.p.A. animation studio in Italy until 2023, as well as a 13.01% stake in an Indian joint venture with domestic partner TV18, Viacom18.

Nickelodeon was a Russian language children's television channel launched on November 15, 1998, across the Post-Soviet states.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV</span> Industry standard for hybrid digital television

Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV) is both an industry standard and promotional initiative for hybrid digital TV to harmonise the broadcast, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), and broadband delivery of entertainment to the end consumer through connected TVs and set-top boxes. The HbbTV Association, comprising digital broadcasting and Internet industry companies, has established a standard for the delivery of broadcast TV and broadband TV to the home, through a single user interface, creating an open platform as an alternative to proprietary technologies. Products and services using the HbbTV standard can operate over different broadcasting technologies, such as satellite, cable, or terrestrial networks.

Football 1 was first specialized TV channel in Ukraine, dedicated exceptionally to football broadcasts. Football 1, Football 2 and Football 3 broadcast Ukrainian and European club competitions, international matches and other football events.

<i>United News</i> (telethon) Ukrainian TV series or program

United News, Telemarathon or UA together is a joint information telethon which was launched on February 24, 2022, at the start of Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. It began broadcasting at the start of the invasion on February 24, 2022, as #UAtogether and broadcast on Rada TV, the official television channel of the Verkhovna Rada.
