Islamic Consultative Assembly

The Islamic Consultative Assembly, also called the Iranian Parliament, the Iranian Majles, is the national legislative body of Iran. The Parliament currently has 290 representatives, changed from the previous 272 seats since the 18 February 2000 election. The most recent election took place on 21 February 2020 and the new parliament was opened on 28 May 2020.

Ahmad Tavakkoli

July 1981 Iranian presidential election

The Iranian presidential election of July 1981 took place on 24 July 1981 after the previous Iranian president, Abolhassan Banisadr, was impeached by the Majlis on 21 June and then sacked by the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khomeini, on 22 June. This led to the election of Mohammad Ali Rajai, the previous prime minister, winning 13,001,761 votes out of the 14,573,803 votes cast, which was 89% of the votes. The vote turnout was 65.29%.

Parliamentary elections were held in Iran on 18 February 2000, with a second round on 5 May. The result was a solid victory for 2nd of Khordad Front and its allies, the reformist supporters of President Mohammad Khatami.

Cabinet of Iran

The Cabinet of Iran is a formal body composed of government officials, ministers, chosen and led by a President. Its composition must be approved by a vote in the Parliament. According to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the President may dismiss members of the cabinet, but must do so in writing, and new appointees must again be approved by the Parliament. The cabinet meets weekly on Saturdays in Tehran. There may be additional meetings if circumstances require it. The president chairs the meetings.

2012 Iranian legislative election

The parliamentary election for the 9th Islamic Consultative Assembly, or Majlis, were held in Iran on Friday, 2 March 2012 with a second round on 4 May 2012 in those 65 districts where no candidate received 25% or more of the votes cast. More than 5,000 candidates registered but more than a third were disqualified by the Guardian Council leaving about 3,400 candidates to run for the 290 seat representing the 31 provinces.

Front of Islamic Revolution Stability

Front of Islamic Revolution Stability is an Iranian principlist political group described as "extreme end of the fundamentalist camp" and "Iran’s most right-wing party". It was established as an electoral list for the 2012 legislative election. The Front is partly made up of former ministers of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah-Yazdi is said to be the "spiritual leader" behind the group.

This is a summary of the electoral history of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, an Iranian politician who was member of Assembly of Experts from Tehran Province since 1982 and Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council since 1989, and has been previously Chairman of the Assembly of Experts (2007–2011), President of Iran (1989–1997), and The Speaker and member of Islamic Consultative Assembly (1980–1989) from Tehran and Minister of Interior (1979–1980).

Resistance Front of Islamic Iran

The Islamic Iran Resistance Front or Resistance Front of Islamic Iran, or simply Resistance Front, also translated Endurance Front, is an Iranian principlist political group, founded in 2011. The group is associated with Mohsen Rezaee. They competed with an electoral list in the 2012 Iranian legislative election, and were able to win 18 exclusive seats. The group endorsed 31 candidates for Tehran City Council in the 2013 Iranian local elections, two of the candidates won seats.

Sayyideh Fatemeh Hosseini is an Iranian Reformist politician and a member of the Parliament of Iran representing Tehran, Rey, Shemiranat and Eslamshahr electoral district. Hosseini is currently the youngest member of the parliament.

The 9th Islamic Consultative Assembly was 33rd Parliament of Iran that commenced on 27 May 2012 following the legislative elections on 2 March and 4 May 2012 and was closed on 24 May 2016.

Government of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (2009–13)

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was the sixth President of Iran which governed during his second term within the tenth Government of Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Islamic Revolution fraction was a parliamentary group in the 8th legislature of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Led by Ruhollah Hosseinian, members of the group were conservatives who supported Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
