Irbek Farniev (born January 12, 1980, in Vladikavkaz) is a male freestyle wrestler from Russia. He participated in Men's freestyle 66 kg at 2008 Summer Olympics. After winning two fights he was eliminated in the 1/4 of final losing with Leonid Spiridonov.

He was gold medalist of 2003 FILA Wrestling World Championships in New York City and bronze medalist of 2007 FILA Wrestling World Championships

Wrestling has deep historical roots in Armenia. Wrestling was practiced in the Armenian Highlands since ancient times. Armenians have their own variant of the sport called Kokh. It was recorded that King Tiridates III of Armenia won the Ancient Olympic Games in wrestling in 281 AD. During the Soviet era, wrestling became one of the most practiced sports in Armenia and remained popular after Armenia's independence in 1991. Arayik Gevorgyan is a retired Armenian Freestyle wrestler. He is an Armenian Champion, European Champion, and three-time World Champion. Gevorgyan was awarded the Master of Sports of the USSR, International Class title in 1991 and the Honored Master of Sports of Armenia title in 1995.
