Isani is an administrative district (raioni) of Tbilisi, capital of Georgia. It includes the neighborhoods of Isani, Avlabari, Navtlughi, Metromsheni, Elia, and Vazisubani.
Tbilisi, in some languages still known by its pre-1936 name Tiflis, is the capital and largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of around 1.2 million people. Tbilisi was founded in the fifth century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, and since then has served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Between 1801 and 1917, then part of the Russian Empire, Tiflis was the seat of the Caucasus Viceroyalty, governing both the northern and the southern parts of the Caucasus.
Old Tbilisi refers to the historical parts of Tbilisi. Although the term "Old Tbilisi" has long been used to denote the oldest part of the city, it was only in 2007 that it became an official administrative distinct, while also incorporating several historical neighbourhoods formerly included in the districts of Mtatsminda-Krtsanisi, Isani-Samgori, and Didube-Chugureti. The official district was abolished in 2013, with its territories allotted to several other divisions of the capital; however, locals and visitors continue to refer to historical districts as "Old Tbilisi" without precise boundaries.
Gurjaani is a town in Kakheti, a region in eastern Georgia, and the seat of the Gurjaani Municipality. It is located in the Alazani River Plain, at an elevation of 415 m above sea level.
Kareli is a town in Shida Kartli, Georgia, located on the right bank of the Mtkvari, 94 km west of the country's capital of Tbilisi. Kareli became the district center in 1939, transformed into a township in 1962, declared a city in 1981. There is a railway station, industrial enterprises, healthcare, educational and cultural institutions in Kareli.
Gardabani is a municipality in Georgia's southern region Kvemo Kartli. It covers an area of 1,212.2 km2 (468 sq mi). As of 2021 it had a population of 80,329 people. The city of Gardabani is its administrative centre.
Avlabari is a neighborhood of Old Tbilisi on the left bank of the Mtkvari River. The 11th-13th century chronicles mention it as Isani, which is now one of the larger municipal regions of Tbilisi. Nowadays one of the upcoming hip neighborhoods of the city, Avlabari is being extensively gentrified.
Samgori is a station of the Tbilisi Metro on the Akhmeteli–Varketili Line situated between Isani and Varketili stations. It serves the district and the neighbourhood it is named after. Next to the station is the Tbilisi junction station of the same name of Samgori. The Samgori metro station has two main entrances, the one from Moscow ave and the one from Kakheti highway, connected with a tunnel that until the 90s had a travelator. The station walls are decorated with relief images. The station was opened on 5 May 1971 as an extension of the Didube–300 Aragveli line.
Isani is a station on the Akhmeteli–Varketili Line of the Tbilisi metro. The station is named after the neighbourhood and the district it serves.

The 2017 Isani flat siege was a confrontation between the Georgian police and security forces and an armed group of four Chechen men, including the former ISIS officer Akhmed Chatayev, in and around a flat on Gabriel Salosi Street in the Isani district of Tbilisi, from 21 to 22 November 2017. Three suspected militants, including Chatayev, and one counter-terrorist officer were killed and four law enforcement personnel were wounded as a result of the about 20-hour confrontation. One member of the group was arrested. According to the Georgian security officials, the group planned to carry out terror attacks against foreign diplomatic missions in Georgia and Turkey.
