Isla Mayor is a municipality located in the province of Seville, Spain. According to the 2009 census, [2] the municipality has a population of 5873 inhabitants.
The main village is Isla Mayor, about 45 km south west of Sevilla, The small village of Poblado de Alfonso XIII is in the same municipality. Isla Mayor separated from the municipality of Puebla del Rio in 1994.
Isla Mayor is situated in the Las Marismas (marshes) of the Bajo Guadalquivir River, of which one part forms part of the Doñana National Park. The land is formed from sediment at the mouth of the Guadalquivir river. It is crisscrossed by canals, and the land dedicated primarily to the cultivation of rice.
Previously just a seasonal settlement for workers in the rice harvest, it became a permanent settlement in 1956 with the establishment of a paper factory by the Instituto Nacional de Colonización. The village and municipality were known as Villafranco del Guadalquivir, in honour of the dictator General Franco. In 2000 the name was changed to Isla Mayor by popular vote.
Doñana National Park or Parque Nacional y Natural de Doñana is a natural reserve in Andalusia, southern Spain, in the provinces of Huelva, Cádiz and Seville. It covers 543 km2 (209.65 sq mi), of which 135 km2 (52.12 sq mi) are a protected area. It is named after Doña Ana de Silva y Mendoza, wife of the 7th Duke of Medina Sidonia.

Andújar is a Spanish municipality of 38,539 people (2005) in the province of Jaén, in Andalusia. The municipality is divided by the Guadalquivir River. The northern part of the municipality is where the Natural Park of the Sierra de Andújar is situated. To the south are agricultural fields and countryside. The city proper located on the right bank of the Guadalquivir and the Madrid-Córdoba railway. In the past, Andújar was widely known for its porous earthenware jars, called alcarrazas or botijos, which keep water cool in the hottest weather, and were manufactured from a whitish clay found in the neighbourhood.

Veta la Palma is an estate (finca) in Andalusia, Spain. It is located on an island in the Guadalquivir river, 10 miles (16 km) inland from the Atlantic Ocean in Seville province of Spain. Prior to the break up of the estate in 2023 it consisted of 11,000 hectares, one of the biggest private properties in the province of Seville. It is recognised for its ecological importance, being included in Doñana Natural Park, the buffer zone of Doñana National Park. The two parks, national and natural, have been classified as a single natural landscape.
The Instituto Nacional de Colonización y Desarrollo Rural was the administrative entity that was established by the Spanish State in October 1939, shortly after the end of the Spanish Civil War, in order to repopulate certain areas of Spain. This entity depended from the Ministry of Agriculture and it sought to alleviate the effects of the devastation caused by the three years of civil war.

Genaro Codina is a municipality in the Mexican state of Zacatecas, located approximately 30 kilometres (19 mi) southwest of the state capital at the city of Zacatecas. It is named after Genaro Codina, musician and composer of the state anthem, the "March of Zacatecas".
