Istanbul Technical University Science Center

Istanbul Technical University's Science Center, located in Taskisla campus in the district of Taksim, Istanbul, is a center which encourages children to interact with exhibits. It opened in November 2007. [1] The exhibition contains exhibits related to mechanics, electricity and magnetism, mathematics, dna, space and general physics.

ITU TRIGA Mark-II Training and Research Reactor is a nuclear research reactor located in Istanbul Technical University in Turkey. It is a light water reactor, the 54th TRIGA in the world designed and manufactured by General Atomics. The facility was opened on 11 March 1979.

ITU Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a faculty of the Istanbul Technical University. In 1926, the “Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering” was founded as part of the Science Faculty of Istanbul University. In 1934, the institute was bound to “Yüksek Mühendis Mektebi”, today’s Istanbul Technical University, as the Electro-Mechanic Division, which was the start of Department of Electrical Engineering. Mehmet Karaca was the rector of Istanbul Technical University (ITU). He was born in Istanbul on 17 September 1957. He is a member of the Department of Geology and the Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences at İstanbul Technical University. He is also head of Climate and Marine Sciences Group at Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences. Following his graduation from Pertevniyal High School in Istanbul, he earned B.S. and M.S. degrees at the Department of Meteorology in the Faculty of Basic Sciences at ITU, in 1979 and 1981 respectively. He earned another M.S. degree at Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He earned a Ph.D. degree at Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1990.

Istanbul Technical University Robot Olympics (ITURO) is a robotic organization consisting competitions, seminars, colloquies, panel discussions, exhibitions and workshops that has been hosted by Istanbul Technical University Control and Automation Student Society since 2007. The three-day organization ITURO is organized at ITU Suleyman Demirel Cultural Center in Ayazağa Campus in every spring. In 2015, there were ten categories and the categories are being updated every year. Also, by the participation of experienced academics and industrial representatives, topics related to robotics and technology become discussed in both national and international manner.

İTÜ—Ayazağa is an underground rapid transit station on the M2 line of the Istanbul Metro. It is located under Büyükdere Avenue in Maslak, the second largest financial district in Istanbul after Levent. The station services the Istanbul Technical University or İTÜ as well as the Maslak financial district. İ.T.Ü.-Ayazağa has an island platform serviced by two tracks. The station was opened on 31 January 2009 as part of the northern extension of the M2 line.

Istanbul Technical University Polar Research Center (ITU PolReC) was established in 2015. ITU PolReC is the first polar research center in Turkey. Burcu Özsoy is a Turkish scientist who works with sea ice remote sensing in Antarctica. Özsoy is head of the first Turkish polar research center, ITU PolReC.

UBAKUSAT was a Turkish nanosatellite that was developed by Istanbul Technical University. It was launched into space on board a Falcon-9 rocket in April 2018 and was deployed into its orbit from the International Space Station in May 2018. It was built as a technology demonstration and Earth observation satellite to provide voice communications for amateur radio stations around the world. It carried an experimental card, TAMSAT Simplesat, which allowed scientists to test its accuracy of measuring radiation from space. It was the fifth satellite to be built by students of Istanbul Technical University.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hasanpaşa Gasworks</span> Former gas plant in Istanbul, Turkey

Hasanpaşa Gasworks, today known as Museum Gasworks, was a gasworks to produce coal gas in Istanbul, Turkey. Built in 1892, it was redeveloped into an arts, cultural center and technology museum in 2021.
