ITU Faculty of Architecture, was the first institution in the Ottoman Empire to educate students on architecture. The Department of Architecture is substantially equivalent to equivalent programs in the United States. [2] Famous architectures such as Ord. Prof. Emin Onat, Prof. Paul Bonatz, Prof. Said Kuran, Prof. Mukbil Gökdoğan, Prof. Kemal Ahmet Aru, Prof. Clemens Holzmeister, Prof. Gustav Olsner, Prof. Rudolf Belling, Prof. Orhan Arda have been members of School of Architecture. Ahmet Nihat Berker is a Turkish scientist, theoretical chemist, physicist and emeritus professor of physics at MIT. Currently, he is the acting Dean of Engineering and Natural Sciences in Kadir Has University, Turkey. He is the son of a notable scientist and engineer Ratip Berker, who was deceased on 17 October 1997. His wife, Bedia Erim Berker, is a professor of chemistry at Istanbul Technical University, and one of his sons, Selim Berker, is a professor of epistemology in the department of philosophy at Harvard University. His other son, Ratip Emin Berker, is an alumnus of Harvard and a PhD student in Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science.
Bahçeşehir University (BAU) is a private educational institution in Turkey, located around the Bosporus in Istanbul. The Turkish National Assembly authorized the establishment of the University of Bahçeşehir by the Bahçeşehir Uğur Education Foundation in 1998. An academic and strategic protocol was signed shortly after with San Diego State University in California, USA. Orhan Kuntay was a Turkish architect and professor of City and Regional Planning specializing in Urban Sustainability and Tourism. He was the led the development of the master plan for the Eastern Anatolia Project (DAP), which encompasses 14 cities and has begun implementation in 2011. Kuntay was the architect of several prominent buildings in Turkey, notably the Queen Sunrise Hotel and the Mosque of Kumbet. He served as a department chairman at the Gazi University and was the author of several published books.
Kazim Cecen, was a Turkish hydraulic engineering academic and historian of science.
Orhan Arda was a Turkish architect and academic. He designed Anıtkabir, the mausoleum complex of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with Emin Onat.
