The JCPenney Classic was a mixed team golf tournament sponsored by the PGA Tour and the LPGA Tour. Teams consisted of one PGA Tour player and one LPGA Tour player (except in 1967 when the teams were male only). It was played in California and Florida. Corporate sponsors were Haig & Haig, Pepsi-Cola, and JCPenney. [1]
In 2000, the tournament was replaced by the Valspar Championship.

Kathrynne Ann Whitworth was an American professional golfer. During her playing career she won 88 LPGA Tour tournaments, more than anyone else on the LPGA or PGA Tours. Whitworth was also a runner-up 93 times, giving her 181 top-two finishes. In 1981, she became the first woman to reach career earnings of $1 million on the LPGA Tour. She is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Founded 52 years ago in 1972, the annual event in the Portland area is the oldest continuous event on the LPGA Tour. It became a 72-hole event in 2013, after decades at 54 holes.

The Grant Thornton Invitational is an annual golf tournament for two-player mixed teams, consisting of PGA Tour and LPGA Tour players. It is held at the Tiburón Golf Club in the Naples, Florida. It was first played in 2023 and replaced the QBE Shootout on the PGA Tour schedule.
