Jahangir Alam Khan (born 31 December 1952) is a Bangladeshi agricultural economist and researcher. He is the incumbent Vice Chancellor of the University of Global Village (UGV). [1] Prior to his appointment in the university, he was the director general of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI). [1] He also served as a director of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council. In recognition of his contribution in research, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the country's second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak in 2020. [2]

Early life

Khan was born on 31 December 1952 in the Ghatiara village of Brahmanbaria of the then East Bengal (now Bangladesh). [1] His father's name is Siddiqur Rahman Khan. He completed secondary school certificate from Kasba Bi-lateral High School in 1967 and higher secondary school certificate from Bangladesh Agricultural University College in 1969. He graduated in 1973 and obtained a master's degree in 1975 respectively from the Bangladesh Agricultural University in agricultural economics. [1] He received a PhD degree in the same subject from the University of Canterbury in 1983. [3] He completed his post-doctoral dissertation at Lincoln University in 1998. [1]

Kamal Lohani was a Bangladeshi journalist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2015 by the Government of Bangladesh. He served as the director general of Shilpakala Academy from April 2009 until April 2011.

Sayed Haider was a Bangladeshi physician and Language Movement activist. He along with Badrul Alam designed the first Shaheed Minar. It was then demolished by the Pakistani Army on 26 February 1952. For his contribution to the Language Movement he was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2016.

Mohammad Rafi Khan was a Bangladeshi pediatrician. In 1994, he was selected the National Professor of Bangladesh. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2009 and Independence Day Award in 2016 by the Government of Bangladesh. He was a Fellow of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences since 1975.

Shamsuzzaman Khan

Shamsuzzaman Khan is a Bangladeshi academician, folklorist and writer and the incumbent president of Bangla Academy since June 2020. He also served as the director general of the academy during 2009-2018. He is notable for editing book series on folk culture of 64 different districts in 64 volumes and collections of folklore series in 114 volumes. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2001, Ekushey Padak in 2009 and Independence Day Award in 2017 by the Government of Bangladesh.

Sheikh Sadi Khan Bangladeshi composer

Sheikh Sadi Khan is a Bangladeshi composer and music director. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director for the film Ghani (2006) and Best Music Composer for Bhalobaslei Ghor Bandha Jay Na (2010). He won Ekushey Padak in 2018 by the Government of Bangladesh.

Burhanuddin Khan Jahangir was a Bangladeshi academic and writer. He was awarded the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1969 and the Ekushey Padak in 2009.

Harishankar Jaladas

Harishankar Jaladas is a Bangladeshi novelist. In recognition of his contribution to Bengali language and literature, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the country's second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak in 2019.

In recognition of his contribution to Bengali language and literature, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the country's second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak in 2018. He served as the Director of Bangla Academy.

Badrul Alam was a Bangladeshi language activist, physician and medical academic. He designed the first Shaheed Minar. He was conferred with Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2014 for his contribution to the Language Movement.

Nuran Nabi is a Bangladeshi scientist and author. In recognition of his contribution in language and literature, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the country's second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak in 2020. He received honorary 'Fellowship' from Bangla Academy in 2017.

Shamsul Alam is a Bangladeshi economist. He has been a member of the Bangladesh Planning Commission under general economics division since 2009. He is also one of the syndicate members of Sylhet Agricultural University. In recognition of his contribution in economics, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the country's second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak in 2020.
