The railway between Jakarta and Anyer Kidul is a railway connecting several places in the province of Banten to Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. It was constructed between 1899 and 1900 in the Dutch colonial age, during which it was also known as the Banten railway (Dutch : Bantamlijn).
The public railway company Staatsspoorwegen built the line in 1899 and 1900 as part of the Western railways (Dutch : Westerlijnen) in order to improve connectivity with the western regions on Java.
On 2 January 1899, the first part was opened between Batavia Zuid (Jakarta Kota) and Tangerang. Until 12 September 1923, this line started from Batavia Zuid, headed west across the street via Pasar Pagi (current day Petongkangan street), turned south to Angke after which the railway followed the current route via Duri. Due to the narrow streets downtown, the new railway from 1923 went around the city on partially elevated tracks. The original plan for this included a rail curve starting from Batavia station going east and curving 180° north- and westwards. Because of the higher costs however, the line was to go east to Kampung Bandan after which trains would have to revert onto the new railway going northwest around the old downtown area. This is the situation as it remains today. [1]
The railway stretch from Duri to Rangkasbitung was completed on 1 October 1899, to Serang on 1 July 1900, and the final extension to Anyer Kidul on 20 December 1900. [2]
Part of the railway up to Rangkasbitung is electrified with 1.5 kV overhead lines.

Tanah Abang Station (THB) is a railway station located in Kampung Bali, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia. The station located to the east of West Flood Canal, and serves Rangkasbitung and Cikarang Loop lines of KRL Commuterline. The station and the canal are only separated by a small, narrow embankment and as such, Tanah Abang station is prone to flooding, especially during the heavy rain season.
Duri Station (DU) is a railway station located in West Jakarta. It serves as the starting point and the eastern terminus of the Tangerang Line service. The station is a major transfer point for commuters to or from Tangerang. When the Jakarta Kota-Manggarai railway is disrupted, trains between Jakarta Kota and Manggarai are rerouted via Duri.
Parung Panjang Station (PRP) is a railway station that is located in Parung Panjang, Bogor Regency, Indonesia. During the colonial era, this station was important due to the location that is midway between Merak Station and Jakarta Kota Station. Before, the station was the last station that has been upgraded to receive an electrified train. But now, the last station changed to Rangkasbitung Station. The station is located in front of Parung Panjang Market. The road in front of the station is a road from Curug, many commuter from Curug uses this station to go to Jakarta.
Kampung Bandan Station (KPB) is a railway station located in North Jakarta. This station is located close to WTC Mangga Dua. This station has elevated and ground-level tracks. The elevated level tracks are used by trains between Jakarta Kota and Tanjung Priuk, as the Tanjung Priuk Line. The ground tracks are used by trains going to Cikarang as the Cikarang Loop Line. This station has been hit by floods numerous times.
Serang Station, is a railway station located in Cimuncang, Serang, Serang, Banten on the Merak–Tanah Abang railway. The station is located to the northeast of the city center.
Rangkasbitung Station (RK) is a railway station located in East Muara Ciujung, Rangkasbitung, Lebak Regency, Banten. It is the main station of Lebak Regency. This station has a small rail yard to keep passenger coaches and goods carriages. This yard also keeps locomotives from Jakarta which serve trains from Jakarta Kota. All train services that pass this station stop in this station.
The Duri–Tangerang railway is a railway connecting Tangerang to Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. It was constructed during the Dutch colonial age, as a branch line from the Jakarta Kota-Anyer Kidul railway. The railway is serviced by KA Commuter Jabodetabek's Tangerang line.
The Rangkasbitung Line, officially the Rangkasbitung Commuter Line, is a commuter rail line in Indonesia, operated by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI). The line connects Tanah Abang station in Central Jakarta and Rangkasbitung station in Lebak Regency, Banten. On maps and diagrams, the line is shown using the color "green". Tanah Abang–Rangkasbitung line is the longest and fourth busiest line in the KRL Commuterline system.
KA Commuter line Jatinegara–Bogor or the Jakarta loop line was a commuter rail line in Indonesia, operated by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI). The line connected Jatinegara station in East Jakarta and Bogor station in Bogor, West Java. On maps and diagrams, the line was shown using the colour "yellow". The Jatinegara–Bogor line was the second busiest line in the KA Commuter system. Covering the distance of 69.35 kilometres, it was the longest KA Commuter line, combining the loop-line on Jatinegara–Kampung Bandan–Tanah Abang–Manggarai with Manggarai–Depok–Bogor lines.
