Jamar Cain (born October 1, 1980) is an American football coach and former player. He has been an assistant coach for various college football programs since 2005. He currently is the defensive line coach for the Denver Broncos

Coaching career

Early Coaching Career

Cain began his coaching career as a high school coach. He then went on to work as an assistant coach at Sacramento City College. In 2005 he got his first opportunity at the FBS level as a graduate assistant under Frank Solich at Ohio. From 2006 to 2008 he worked as the defensive ends coach for Missouri State. From 2009 to 2012 he was the defensive line coach for Cal Poly.

Wyoming

In 2013 he served as the defensive line coach for Wyoming. He was promoted to defensive coordinator midway through the season. [1]

NDSU

Jamar Cain spent three seasons as the defensive ends coach at North Dakota State before taking a defensive line position at San Jose State.  He was part of NDSU's fourth and fifth straight FCS national championships in 2014 and 2015 and the team's sixth consecutive Missouri Valley Football Conference title in 2016.

Cain helped in developing 2014 Buck Buchanan Award winner and consensus All-American Kyle Emanuel, who had 19.5 sacks and 32.5 tackles for loss his senior year and was a fifth round NFL draft pick. He also coached All-American Greg Menard, a nominee for the 2016 Buck Buchanan Award.

Fresno State

After originally taking a job at San Jose State. [2] In 2017 and 2018 he worked as the defensive line coach for Fresno State.

Arizona State

In 2019 he worked as the defensive line coach for ASU. [3] With Cain on staff, ASU's 2019 run defense was significantly better than the year before he arrived. It ranked 26th nationally in 2019 by allowing 125.1 rushing yards per game, and 24th by permitting 3.5 yards per carry. In 2018, before he was on staff, ASU ranked 74th and 66th, respectively, at 170.5 and 4.3.

Oklahoma

In 2020 and 2021 he worked as the outside linebackers and defensive ends coach for the Sooners. [4]

LSU

After originally following Lincoln Riley to USC. [5] Cain decided to join Brian Kelly's inaugural LSU staff as the defensive line coach and defensive run game coordinator. [6] [7]

Denver Broncos

Cain was hired on March 25, 2023 as a pass rushing specialist for the Denver Broncos. [8] He was promoted to defensive line coach after Marcus Dixon left to take the same job with the Minnesota Vikings [9]

He led the 2019 LSU Tigers football team to a national championship, beating the defending champions Clemson in the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship.

Reginald Wayne Herring is an American football coach and former player and most recently the linebackers coach for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). A former linebacker at Florida State University, he began his coaching career in 1981. He has now coached for 36 years across college and the NFL. Herring arrived in Denver to coach linebackers in 2015 after previous stops in the league with Chicago (2014), Houston and Dallas (2008–10). Herring has coached nine linebackers who have made Pro Bowl appearances during their careers, including outside linebackers DeMarcus Ware (9), Mario Williams (4), and Connor Barwin (1), and inside linebackers Zach Thomas (7), Keith Brooking (5), Lance Briggs (7), Brian Cushing (1), Sean Lee (2) and DeMeco Ryans (2). Herring also served as the interim head football coach for the University of Arkansas in the 2008 Cotton Bowl Classic.

Clarence Barone is an American football coach who is the tight ends coach for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). Pete Jenkins is a former American football coach and player. His coaching career spanned a 54-year period from 1964 to 2017 at the high school, college and professional level. Having mentored numerous NFL and college defensive line coaches, Jenkins is credited with revolutionizing the way the position is taught and coached and revered as one of the greatest defensive line coaches in football history. Alexander Gregory Grinch is an American football coach who is currently the safeties coach for the Wisconsin Badgers. He previously served as the defensive coordinator at the University of Southern California (USC), the University of Oklahoma, Ohio State University and Washington State University. He also served as the offensive coordinator at North Dakota State University in Fargo for three seasons from 2014-2016 where he helped the Bison to two consecutive NCAA Division I Football Championships in addition to winning two more National Championships as a position coach (2011,2012) He spent the 2013 season coaching Tight ends and fullbacks at Northern Illinois before returning to NDSU for the 2014 season. The 2024 season will be his 11th season (total) on staff for the Bison and his third stint in Fargo

Josh Henson is an American football coach and former player who is currently the offensive coordinator for the USC Trojans. Henson was previously the offensive line coach for the Texas A&M Aggies.
