Glamorgan County Cricket Club started their 2005 season as defending totesport League champions,but the 2005 season ended without a trophy –instead,they suffered relegation in the first-class form. They played their first-class cricket in the First Division of the County Championship. They started the Championship season at 25–1 to win,and favourites to be relegated –which they eventually were,winning one of sixteen games in the Championship season to finish bottom –nearly 100 points behind the first team to avoid relegation. By the end of August,they had confirmed relegation with three games remaining. In the National League,they hovered around mid-table for most of the season,before a run of three unbeaten games at the end of August sent them out of the relegation zone,and they finished the season in fourth place. In the C&G Trophy,they were knocked out at the second round stage by eventual champions Hampshire,while the Twenty20 campaign saw them finish bottom of their group with two wins from eight matches.
James Cullum Tredwell is an English former international cricketer. A left-handed batsman and a right-arm off break bowler,he played his domestic cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and was appointed as County Captain for the 2013 season. He made his debut for Kent in the 2001 season,nine days before his first appearance for England Under-19s. He often fielded at slip. Tredwell was a member of the England team that won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.
Joseph Liam Denly is an English professional cricketer who plays for Kent County Cricket Club. He is a right-handed batsman and occasional leg break bowler who plays as a top-order batsman. Denly played age group cricket for Kent and began his professional career with the county before moving to Middlesex for three seasons between 2012 and 2014. He won the Professional Cricketers' Association Player of the Year award in 2018 and was named the season's Most Valuable Player.

Liam Connor Norwell is an English cricketer who last played for Warwickshire. A right-handed batsman and right-hand medium pace bowler he made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire against Derbyshire in April 2011. Norwell signed a new two-year contract for Gloucestershire in 2013.
Harry William Podmore is a retired English professional cricketer who played for Glamorgan County Cricket Club. A right-arm medium-fast bowler who bats right-handed,he played youth cricket for Middlesex and made his debut for the county in 2014 before spending time on loan with Glamorgan,Durham and Derbyshire over the next two seasons. He made his first-class cricket debut on 1 May 2016 in the 2016 County Championship and played for Kent between 2018 and 2022;he was awarded his county cap in 2019 and left the county at the end of the 2022 season,moving to Glamorgan.
In 2015,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division Two of the County Championship,Group B of the 50-over Royal London One-Day Cup and the South Group of the NatWest t20 Blast. The team reached the quarter-finals of both one day competitions but struggled in the County Championship,finishing seventh in Division Two.
In 2013,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division Two of the County Championship,Group A of the 40-over Yorkshire Bank 40 and the South Group of the Friends Life t20. Kent also hosted a first-class match at the St Lawrence Ground against Cardiff MCCU at the start of the season and a T20 match against the touring New Zealanders in June. It was the second season in charge for head coach Jimmy Adams. The club captain was England spinner James Tredwell,taking over from Rob Key who had been club captain since 2006. Brendan Nash registered as a Kolpak player,ending his West Indies international career,which allowed Kent to sign another overseas player. South African fast bowler Vernon Philander filled this role,although he was only with the club for a short spell in July. Another new addition to the squad was 22-year-old Calum Haggett from Somerset. Shortly before the end of the season,Kent signed two young fast bowlers:Charlie Hartley and Matt Hunn. In addition,Mitchell Claydon joined on loan from Durham on 11 June initially for one month,but this was extended for a second month.

The season was the fifth,and last,in charge for head coach Jimmy Adams and the first for new club captain Sam Northeast,who took over from Rob Key at the end of the 2015 season,having captained the side on the field for much of the season.

Kent also hosted a first-class match at the St Lawrence Ground against the touring South Africans. At the start of the season,Kent played a three-day MCC Universities match at Oxford MCCU,but this match did not have first-class status. It was the first season in charge for new head coach Jimmy Adams after the departure of Paul Farbrace who had been the club's Director of Cricket for two seasons. The club captain was former England batsman Rob Key who had been club captain since 2006. Brendan Nash joined Kent as their overseas player.
In 2017,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division Two of the County Championship,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the NatWest t20 Blast. In addition,before the start of the English cricket season,Kent competed in the 2016–17 Regional Super50,the List A competition of the West Indian domestic season. This was the first time that any English county had competed in an overseas domestic competition. The invitation to take part in the tournament was largely due to the influence of former West Indian captain Jimmy Adams who had been Kent's Head Coach until September 2016.
The 2018 County Championship,known as the 2018 Specsavers County Championship for sponsorship reasons,is the 119th cricket County Championship season. As in 2017,Division One has eight teams and Division Two has ten teams,with two teams relegated and two promoted at the end of the season.
In 2019 Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division One of the County Championship after gaining promotion in the 2018 season,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the 2019 t20 Blast.
The 2020 Bob Willis Trophy was a first-class cricket tournament held in the 2020 English cricket season,and the inaugural edition of the Bob Willis Trophy. It was separate from the County Championship,which was not held in 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The eighteen county cricket teams were split into three regional groups of six,with the two group winners with the most points advancing to a final held at Lord's. The maximum number of overs bowled in a day was reduced from 96 to 90,and the team's first innings could be no longer than 120 overs.
The 2021 County Championship was the 121st cricket County Championship season in England and Wales. For the first phase of the tournament,the teams were split into three groups of six,with each side playing ten matches. The top two teams from each group progressed into Division One for the second phase of the competition,with the other teams progressing to Divisions Two and Three. The team that finished top of Division One became the county champions;and the top two teams from Division One contested a five-day match at Lord's for the Bob Willis Trophy. On 17 December 2020,the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed all the fixtures for the tournament. After completion of the group stage on 14 July 2021,the ECB confirmed the fixtures for the division stage on 22 July 2021.
The 2022 County Championship was the 122nd cricket County Championship season in England and Wales. The season began on 7 April and ended on 29 September 2022. Warwickshire were the defending champions.
The 2022 season was Glamorgan County Cricket Club's 135th year in existence and their 101st as a first-class cricket county. They finished third in the Second Division of the County Championship,nine points behind second-placed Middlesex;they also finished fourth in Group B of the Royal London One-Day Cup,a point off the quarter-final qualification places,and sixth in the South Group of the 2022 T20 Blast,six points off the quarter-final places. It was the team's third season with Matthew Maynard as head coach and their first with David Lloyd as captain. The team's overseas players were Australians Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser,and South African Colin Ingram,while Shubman Gill and Ajaz Patel were brought in during the season. Glamorgan played two 50-over matches at The Gnoll in Neath,their first matches there for 27 years,but for the third season in a row,they did not play any matches at Penrhyn Avenue in Rhos-on-Sea.
The 2024 County Championship was the 124th County Championship cricket season in England and Wales. As in 2023,Division One had ten teams and Division Two had eight teams. The season began on 5 April and ended on 29 September 2024. Surrey won the title with one match remaining,repeating their success in 2022 and 2023. They were the first team to become champions in three successive years since Yorkshire in 1966–68,having last achieved this feat themselves in 1958.
