Worcestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Worcestershire. Its Vitality Blast T20 team has been rebranded the Worcestershire Rapids,but the county is known by most fans as 'the Pears'. The club is based at New Road,Worcester. Founded in 1865,Worcestershire held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship in the 1890s,winning the competition three times. In 1899,the club joined the County Championship and the team was elevated to first-class status. Since then,Worcestershire have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England.

Founded in 1882,Durham held minor status for over a century and was a prominent member of the Minor Counties Championship,winning the competition seven times. In 1992,the club joined the County Championship and the team was elevated to senior status as an official first-class team. Durham has been classified as an occasional List A team from 1964,then as a full List A team from 1992;and as a senior Twenty20 team since the format's introduction in 2003.
Joseph Liam Denly is an English professional cricketer who plays for Kent County Cricket Club. He is a right-handed batsman and occasional leg break bowler who plays as a top-order batsman. Denly played age group cricket for Kent and began his professional career with the county before moving to Middlesex for three seasons between 2012 and 2014. He won the Professional Cricketers' Association Player of the Year award in 2018 and was named the season's Most Valuable Player.
Nicholas Richard Denis Compton is a South African-born English former Test and first-class cricketer who most recently played for Middlesex County Cricket Club. The grandson of Denis Compton,he represented England in 16 Test matches.

A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm leg break bowler,Taylor made his debut in first-class cricket in 2008 for Leicestershire and made major impressions in his first county seasons. He is noted as being a fine fielder in the covers. He became the youngest Leicestershire one-day centurion and first-class double centurion. In 2009,Taylor also became the youngest player in Leicestershire's history to score 1,000 championship runs in a season. A promising talent in his 34 white-ball appearances for England,Taylor was forced into retirement at just 26 years of age due to a previously undiagnosed heart condition.

Andrew Carter is an English cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-hand medium pace bowler,he began his county career with Nottinghamshire,making his first-class debut for them in June 2009. He also played on loan for Essex in 2010 and Glamorgan in 2015 while with Nottinghamshire. Carter joined Derbyshire prior to the 2016 season,but left the club later in the year. He represented England Lions in 2011.
Brett Louis D'Oliveira is an English cricketer,a right-handed batsman and leg spin bowler who currently plays for Worcestershire. He made his debut for Worcestershire against Yorkshire in a List A match in August 2011. D'Oliveira signed a new,three-year,contract with Worcestershire in July 2016. D'Oliveira had been playing cricket for Worcestershire since under-13 level.

Matches were contested over 50 overs per side and had List A cricket status. All eighteen First-class counties competed in the tournament which ran from the end of April with the final taking place at Lord's on 1 July. Nottinghamshire won the tournament,defeating Surrey in the final. The defending champions were Warwickshire.
The 2019 County Championship,known for sponsorship reasons as the 2019 Specsavers County Championship,was the 120th cricket County Championship season. As in 2018,Division One had eight teams and Division Two had ten teams. The first round of matches began on 5 April and the final round of matches ended on 26 September. Surrey were the defending champions. At the end of the 2019 season only one team was relegated with three promoted. Therefore,from 2020 onwards,Division One would feature ten teams and Division Two would feature eight.

The tournament was won by Somerset,their first win in the tournament since 2001. Matches were contested over 50 overs per side and had List A cricket status. All eighteen first-class counties competed in the tournament,which due to the 2019 Cricket World Cup being hosted in England took place at the beginning of the English cricket season starting on 17 April 2019,with the final taking place just over a month later at Lord's on 25 May 2019. Hampshire were the defending champions.
The 2020 Bob Willis Trophy was a first-class cricket tournament held in the 2020 English cricket season,and the inaugural edition of the Bob Willis Trophy. It was separate from the County Championship,which was not held in 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The eighteen county cricket teams were split into three regional groups of six,with the two group winners with the most points advancing to a final held at Lord's. The maximum number of overs bowled in a day was reduced from 96 to 90,and the team's first innings could be no longer than 120 overs.
The 2021 County Championship was the 121st cricket County Championship season in England and Wales. For the first phase of the tournament,the teams were split into three groups of six,with each side playing ten matches. The top two teams from each group progressed into Division One for the second phase of the competition,with the other teams progressing to Divisions Two and Three. The team that finished top of Division One became the county champions;and the top two teams from Division One contested a five-day match at Lord's for the Bob Willis Trophy. On 17 December 2020,the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed all the fixtures for the tournament. After completion of the group stage on 14 July 2021,the ECB confirmed the fixtures for the division stage on 22 July 2021.
The 2022 County Championship was the 122nd cricket County Championship season in England and Wales. The season began on 7 April and ended on 29 September 2022. Warwickshire were the defending champions.
The 2022 season was Glamorgan County Cricket Club's 135th year in existence and their 101st as a first-class cricket county. They finished third in the Second Division of the County Championship,nine points behind second-placed Middlesex;they also finished fourth in Group B of the Royal London One-Day Cup,a point off the quarter-final qualification places,and sixth in the South Group of the 2022 T20 Blast,six points off the quarter-final places. It was the team's third season with Matthew Maynard as head coach and their first with David Lloyd as captain. The team's overseas players were Australians Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser,and South African Colin Ingram,while Shubman Gill and Ajaz Patel were brought in during the season. Glamorgan played two 50-over matches at The Gnoll in Neath,their first matches there for 27 years,but for the third season in a row,they did not play any matches at Penrhyn Avenue in Rhos-on-Sea.
The 2024 County Championship is the 124th County Championship cricket season in England and Wales. As in 2023,Division One had ten teams and Division Two had eight teams. The season started on 5 April and is scheduled to finish on 29 September 2024. Surrey are the defending champions,having repeated their success in securing the 2022 title.
