Sean Robert Dickson (born 2 September 1991) is an English-South African cricketer who plays as a right-handed top-order batter. Dickson was born in Johannesburg and made his first-class debut in South Africa before signing for Kent in July 2015,qualifying as a non-overseas player due to his British mother and UK passport. [1] [2] Dickson scored 318 for Kent in July 2017,the county's second highest individual score and making him one of only two men to have made a triple-century for Kent. [3]
In July 2020 Dickson joined Durham,initially on loan before a permanent move to the county in November 2020. He had declined a contract extension at Kent. [4] In September 2022 it was announced that Dickson would join Somerset ahead of the 2023 season. [5]
Dickson played cricket for Pretoria University before being called into the Northerns team in November 2013,making his first-class cricket debut against Border. [6] [7] He scored his maiden first-class century for Northerns in a CSA Provincial match against North West at Potchefstroom in March 2014,before being dismissed for 173. [8] Dickson played a total of nine first-class matches for Northerns in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons,as well as representing the club in List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket in CSA Provincial competitions. At the beginning of the 2015 English cricket season Dickson moved to England,playing in the East Anglian Premier Cricket League for Woolpit in Suffolk. [9] He played in a trial match for Kent in May,having previously had a trial with Somerset in 2010 while playing club cricket for Clevedon Cricket Club. [1] [6] [10] Seven centuries in Second XI matches for Kent in 2015 saw Dickson sign a contract with the county in July. [1] [2] [11] He made his senior debut against Warwickshire in the 2015 Royal London One-Day Cup in August 2015,before making his County Championship debut later in the same month against Derbyshire. [7] [12] He was awarded the 2nd XI National Player of the Year Award for 2015. [10] [13]
Dickson started the 2016 season opening the batting for Kent but became the 60th batsman in first-class cricket history to be dismissed handled the ball in the county's first Championship innings of the year against Leicestershire at Grace Road. [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] He scored his second century –a maiden double century –for Kent in the 2016 County Championship against Derbyshire at Derby in May 2016,where he finished on 207 not out in their first innings. Dickson signed a long-term contract extension with Kent in August 2016,having won a consistent place in the County Championship side for the county during the season. [21] He played rarely in limited overs matches for the county during 2016,although he did score 99 in his only 2016 Royal London One-Day Cup appearance,his new highest List A score. [22] He was named as the Kent Supporters Club most promising uncapped player of the season in January 2017. [23]
In July 2017 Dickson made a score of 318 for Kent against Northants at Beckenham in the County Championship. The innings was Kent's second highest individual score in first-class cricket and the third triple-century scored for the county. Dickson batted for over eight hours and faced 408 balls. Batting with Joe Denly,he contributed to what was,at the time,Kent's highest partnership for any wicket,putting on 382 runs for the second wicket. [3] [24] [25] Later in the season he made his fourth first-class century,scoring 142 against the touring West Indies team at Canterbury in August. [26] He ended the season having scored 982 first-class runs.
During the 2017/18 close season Dickson played in the US T20 Open tournament in Florida,playing for the US Tigers. [27] In 2018 he scored three first-class centuries for Kent and featured in all formats of the game for the county. He signed a contract extension in November 2018 [28] [29] and played for Kent throughout 2019 before leaving the club to join Durham on loan in July 2020. [4]
Joseph Liam Denly is an English professional cricketer who plays for Kent County Cricket Club. He is a right-handed batsman and occasional leg break bowler who plays as a top-order batsman. Denly played age group cricket for Kent and began his professional career with the county before moving to Middlesex for three seasons between 2012 and 2014. He won the Professional Cricketers' Association Player of the Year award in 2018 and was named the season's Most Valuable Player.
William Henry Ashdown was an English professional cricketer. He is one of a very few men who played first-class cricket before the First World War and after the Second World War.
Sam Alexander Northeast is an English professional cricketer who plays for Glamorgan County Cricket Club. He is a right-handed batsman. Northeast made his senior debut in 2007 and until 2017 played for Kent County Cricket Club. He captained the Kent First XI for most of the 2015 season before being formally appointed as club captain in 2016. He captained the side in 2017 before being replaced before the 2018 season after declining to sign a contract extension committing himself to the club in the longer term.
Alexander James Blake is an English professional cricketer who played for Kent County Cricket Club between 2007 and 2023. He played as a left-handed batsman who bowled occasionally. Blake was born in Farnborough in Bromley and attended Hayes School before studying at Leeds Metropolitan University. Blake was known as a "brutal limited-overs batsman" and an "athletic" fielder.
The Crabble Athletic Ground,also known as simply Crabble,or The Crabble is a football stadium located in the northern Dover suburb of River,Kent. It was the home of the various incarnations of Dover F.C. from 1931 until the club folded in 1983. Since then it has been the home of Dover Athletic F.C.,and it was also the temporary home of Margate F.C. between 2002 and 2004,when the club's Hartsdown Park stadium was being redeveloped. The stadium has two seated stands and two covered terraces and holds a total of 5,745 fans,although in the past,crowds larger than that figure could be accommodated. It also has a clubhouse,which the club completely redeveloped in 2008.
The County Ground,Beckenham is a cricket ground in Beckenham in the London Borough of Bromley. The ground is owned by Leander Sports and Leisure and is used as an outground by Kent County Cricket Club for First XI fixtures,as well as for other matches. As of 2019 the Kent Women cricket team played the majority of their matches at the ground.
Mote Park,also known as The Mote,is a cricket ground in Maidstone in the English county of Kent. It is inside the grounds of the Mote Park and is owned by The Mote Cricket Club. The ground is also used by the Mote Squash Club and Maidstone rugby club. It was used by Kent County Cricket Club as one of their out-grounds for county cricket matches. The club played over 200 first-class cricket matches on the ground between 1859 and 2005.
Daniel James Bell-Drummond is an English professional cricketer,who plays for Kent County Cricket Club. He has represented England at youth level and has played for the England Lions cricket team at senior level.
Samuel William Billings is an English professional cricketer. Billings is a right-handed batsman who fields as a wicket-keeper. He was born at Pembury in Kent and has played for Kent County Cricket Club sides since he was eight years old,making his senior debut for the First XI in 2011. In October 2017 he was appointed as the vice-captain of the team before being appointed as captain in January 2018,replacing Sam Northeast. He served as the club's captain until the end of the 2023 season when he resigned,although he retained the captaincy of the club's Twenty20 cricket side.
Adam Paul Rouse is a Zimbabwean-born English former professional cricketer. Rouse played as a right-handed batsman who fielded as a wicket-keeper,although he was considered versatile enough to play solely as a specialist batsman. Rouse played for England at under-19 level and made his first-class debut in 2013 for Hampshire County Cricket Club. He played for Gloucestershire in 2014 before joining Kent County Cricket Club ahead of the 2016 season. He retired from professional cricket at the start of the 2020 season.
In 2015,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division Two of the County Championship,Group B of the 50-over Royal London One-Day Cup and the South Group of the NatWest t20 Blast. The team reached the quarter-finals of both one day competitions but struggled in the County Championship,finishing seventh in Division Two.
Joe James Weatherley is an English professional cricketer,who plays for Hampshire County Cricket Club. Weatherley,who has represented and captained England at under 19 level,is a right-handed batsman and off spinner. He made his first-class cricket debut for Hampshire against Cardiff MCCU in April 2016,going on to make his List A and Twenty20 debuts for the club later in the same season. He left King Edward VI School (Southampton) in 2015.
In 2016,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division Two of the County Championship,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the NatWest t20 Blast. The season was the fifth,and last,in charge for head coach Jimmy Adams and the first for new club captain Sam Northeast,who took over from Rob Key at the end of the 2015 season,having captained the side on the field for much of the season.
In 2017,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division Two of the County Championship,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the NatWest t20 Blast. In addition,before the start of the English cricket season,Kent competed in the 2016–17 Regional Super50,the List A competition of the West Indian domestic season. This was the first time that any English county had competed in an overseas domestic competition. The invitation to take part in the tournament was largely due to the influence of former West Indian captain Jimmy Adams who had been Kent's Head Coach until September 2016.

Grant Stewart is an Italian-Australian professional cricketer who plays for Kent County Cricket Club. He made his first-class cricket debut for Kent in September 2017 in the club's final County Championship match of the season,having signed his first professional contract at the end of August.
In 2018,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division Two of the County Championship,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the 2018 t20 Blast. The county finished second in Division Two of the Championship and were promoted to Division One for the 2019 season. They reached the final of the One-Day Cup. losing to Hampshire at Lord's,and the quarter-final stage of the t20 Blast. In addition,before the start of the English cricket season,Kent competed in the 2017–18 Regional Super50,the List A competition of the West Indies domestic season,reaching the semi-final stage. This was the second time that Kent have competed in the competition,having played in the 2016–17 competition.
In 2019 Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division One of the County Championship after gaining promotion in the 2018 season,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the 2019 t20 Blast.
