Jarmanpreet Singh (born 18 July 1996) is an Indian field hockey player from Punjab. He plays as a defender. He will make his debut as an Olympian at Paris as he is selected to represent the Indian field hockey team in the 2024 Summer Olympics. [1]

Early life

Singh is from Amritsar, Punjab. Earlier, he played for Railway Sports Promotion Board in the domestic tournaments. But later joined Income Tax department. [2]

Career

Singh was part of the Indian junior team at the Junior World Cup 2016. [1]

He made his senior international debut at the 2018 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy in Breda where India won the silver medal. [3] Finally he won gold medal in 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. [4] [5]

Singh was banned for two years as he failed a doping test after he took a pain killer prescribed by his doctor for back pain. [1] [6]
