Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra is an Australian large jazz ensemble. [1] [2] Together with Kristin Berardi they were nominated for the 2011 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album with Kristin Berardi Meets The Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra. [3] The ensemble consists of yl Pratt (vibraphone), Brendan Clarke (contrabass), Tom Botting (contrabass), Jamie Cameron (drums, cymbals), Evan Mannell (drums), and Phil South (percussion).

The Idea of North are an Australian a cappella vocal ensemble founded in Canberra in 1993, by Nick Begbie (tenor), Meg Corson (alto), Trish Delaney-Brown (soprano) and Andrew Piper (bass). Still active in 2023, but touring less frequently since the Covid-19 pandemic, The Idea of North has had a number of personnel changes since their formation, with Nick Begbie the only remaining original member.

Directions in Groove or DIG were an Australian acid jazz band which formed in 1991 by Alexander Hewetson on bass guitar, Terepai Richmond on drums and percussion, Rick Robertson on saxophone, Tim Rollinson on guitar and Scott Saunders on keyboards. Originally styled as dig they performed instrumental acid jazz before Saunders added vocals. They released three studio albums, Dig Deeper, Speakeasy and Curvystrasse. At the APRA Music Awards of 1996 they won Most Performed Jazz Work for their track, "Futures". They disbanded in 1998 before reforming in 2008 for selected performances and again 2011 to release a fourth studio album, Clearlight.

Orchestra of the Antipodes is an Australian early music ensemble founded by Antony Walker and Alison Johnston. They play baroque music on early instruments. They were founded alongside vocal ensemble Cantillation and the Sinfonia Australis orchestra. Paul Grabowsky Trio were an Australian jazz ensemble founded in 1983 by Paul Grabowsky on piano. By 1989 he was joined by Allan Browne on drums and Gary Costello on double bass. They won Best Jazz Album for Six by Three (1989) at the ARIA Music Awards of 1990 and for When Words Fail (1995) in 1996. The trio disbanded in 2001. Gary Costello died in December 2006, aged 54; Browne died in June 2015, aged 70.
