The United States Virgin Islands competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics, which were held in Beijing, the People's Republic of China from August 8 to August 24, 2008. In total, seven athletes participated on behalf of the Virgin Islands in Beijing. Maureen Giles is an Australian former swimmer. She competed in the women's 100 metre butterfly at the 1956 Summer Olympics. She married John Monckton, an Australian swimmer who also competed at the 1956 Olympics.
Bruce Savage is a sailor from South Africa, who represented his country at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain as helmsman in the Soling. With crew members Giles Stanley and Rick Mayhew they took the 14th place. Bruce with crew members Rick Mayhew and Clynton Lehman took 11th place during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Savannah, United States as helmsman in the Soling.
