Michael 'Mike' Archer Winch (born 20 July 1948) [1] is a male retired British shot putter.

Athletics career

Winch represented England and won a silver medal in the shot put event, at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand. [2] [3] Four years later he represented England in the discus and shot put events, at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada [4] [5] and in 1982 he represented England for the third time at the Commonwealth Games and won another silver medal in the shot put event, at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Coaching

Subsequent to his athletics career he has coached international athletes (mainly throwers) including multiple gold medallist Judy Oakes OBE, and Olympic athletes Philippa Roles and Emeka Udechuku. He was chief British throws coach at the World Championships in Gothenburg 1991, chief throws coach to the England team in Kuala Lumpur 1998 and overall chief coach of England's athletics team at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games [8]

Personal life

He was UK Athletics Vice President for four years, stepping down in February 2008 over the governing body’s handling of the Dwain Chambers controversy. [9] He has written several sporting technical books (strength and conditioning training) and three novels: Running From Gold, Run to Death, and The Convocation of Colours).

William Raymond "Bill" Tancred is a leading sports administrator, academic and former international athlete. He competed at the 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics in the discus and won a bronze and silver medals in successive Commonwealth Games from 1970 to 1974. He was the British National discus champion on seven occasions and held the British record for 25 years his personal best being 64.94m in 1974. He also competed in the shot put and remains one of the top ten British shot putters. India at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games

India competed at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games held in the Isle of Man from 7 to 13 September 2011. India has participated in all the editions of the Commonwealth Youth Games. The nation was represented by the Indian Olympic Association, which is responsible for the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games in India.

Dave Travis British javelin thrower

David Howard Travis was a major figure in UK javelin throwing during the 1960s and 1970s. He competed at the 1968 and 1972 summer Olympics in the javelin and won a gold medal in the 1967 World Student Games and the 1970 Commonwealth Games. He was an international athlete from 1965 to 1978 and the British record holder for 4 years.

Brydee Moore is an Australian athlete with cerebral palsy that competes in the shot put, discus and javelin. She won a silver medal at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships. She represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics in athletics.

Daniel "Dan" West is a British Paralympian track and field athlete competing mainly in category F34 throwing events. He has represented Great Britain in four Paralympic Games and has qualified for the team for a fifth time at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Billy Cole is a male British former track and field athlete who specialised in the shot put. His personal best for the event was 19.01 m. His sole major achievement was a gold medal at the 1986 Commonwealth Games. He also won three UK Championships and four AAA titles

Bruno Pauletto is a physiologist, an author, a business manager, a former coach and a former Canadian track and field athlete. He graduated from CMU and UT and he published several books and articles on exercise physiology.
