John Skelton was an English priest in the second half of the 17th century and the first decade of the 18th. [1]
Skelton was educated at The Queen's College, Oxford. [2] He was chaplain to Bishop Thomas Winniffe and held livings at Stixwold, Scrayfield, East Wickham and Walgrave. Skelton was appointed a canon of Lincoln Cathedral in 1683 and Archdeacon of Bedford in 1679, holding both positions until his death on 3 April 1704. [3]

He has stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work in radio and television, and also appeared in burlesque, vaudeville, films, nightclubs, and casinos, all while he pursued an entirely separate career as an artist.
Isaac Newton Skelton IV was an American politician who was the U.S. Representative for Missouri's 4th congressional district from 1977 to 2011. During his tenure, he served as the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. He was a member of the Democratic Party. On November 2, 2010, he lost his seat to Republican Vicky Hartzler amid a Republican wave. Notably, he was one of three Democratic committee chairmen to lose reelection in the 2010 midterm cycle, alongside House Budget Committee chairman John Spratt of South Carolina and House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee chairman Jim Oberstar of Minnesota.
The Red Skelton Show is an American television comedy/variety show that, from 1951 to 1971, was an entertainment staple and an institution to a generation of viewers. In the decade prior to hosting the show, Richard "Red" Skelton had a successful career as a radio and motion pictures star. Although his television series is largely associated with CBS, where it appeared for more than sixteen years, it actually began and ended on NBC. During its run, the program received three Emmy Awards, for Skelton as best comedian and the program as best comedy show during its initial season, and an award for comedy writing in 1961. In 1959 Skelton also received a Golden Globe for Best TV Show.

Roy William Skelton was an English actor and voice artist, whose voice was more familiar to television viewers than his name. Born in Nottingham to John H Skelton and Dorothy, he provided the voices for many characters on British television for nearly fifty years, particularly the characters of both Zippy and George on Rainbow, which the actor first joined in the early 1970s and performed on until it was axed in 1991. However, due to the fame of the characters, he continued to voice Zippy and George in guest appearances on television in series such as The Weakest Link and TV Burp until his death.
