John Lawrence Trautmann OLY (born June 29, 1968) is an American long-distance runner. [1] He was the 1990 5000m NCAA Champion for Georgetown University and was on the 1987 Distance Medley Relay team at the Penn Relays that set a world record of 9:20.96. [2] [3] Trautmann won the 1992 US Olympic Trials 5000m. He competed at the 1992 Olympics, but did not finish due to injury. [2] In 2015, he ran 4:12.33 to break the Masters M45 World Record in the mile under the guidance of his former college coach Frank Gagliano. [4]

Trautmann is an assistant coach at NYU. [5] He also coaches the Empire Elite Track Club with Tom Nohilly. [2] Current athletes include Eric Holt and Helen Schlachtenhaufen. [6]

John Lee Gray Jr. is a retired American world class 800 meter runner from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s and the holder of the 600m world best. A four-time-Olympian (1984-1996) in 1985 he set the US record of 1:42.60 at a meet in Koblenz. That time puts Gray as the nineteenth fastest performer of all time. He came seventh in the 1984 Summer Olympics, fifth in 1988, and won the bronze medal at the Barcelona Olympics of 1992. In 1993 Gray was one of the favourites to win a gold medal at the World Championships in Stuttgart as he had won the A-race at the prestigious meeting in Zurich. However, he failed to qualify for the final in Stuttgart. He also set the world 600 meter record in 1986 at 1:12.81. In 1992 and 1993 Gray came close to breaking the world indoor record over 800 m several times. He held the US indoor record at 1:45.00 till February 2019.

Lawson "Robbie" N. Robertson was considered one of the more accomplished American track coaches of the first half of the twentieth century. From 1904-1936, he was with the American team at every Olympics with the exception of 1916 when the Olympics were cancelled due to WWI. He coached Track and Field for the Irish-American Athletic Club in Queens, New York from 1909–16, and then for the University of Pennsylvania from 1916-47. He was U.S. Olympic Assistant Track coach in 1912 and 1920 and was head coach for the American Track and Field Team in four Olympics from 1924-36.

Shannon Solares-Rowbury is an American middle-distance runner from San Francisco, California. After competing collegiately for Duke University, she turned professional in 2007. Rowbury has represented the United States at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics. She also represented the United States at the World Championships in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017, winning the bronze medal in the 1500 meters in 2009. Julie Culley is an American track and field athlete, who competes in middle distance track events. Culley represented the United States at the 2012 Olympic Games in London in the 5000 m.

Andrew Bumbalough is a runner who specialized in various middle and long distances in track. He represented the United States at the 2011 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and at the 2014 IAAF Continental Cup. After graduating from Georgetown University, Bumbalough went to train in Oregon with Coach Schumacher and fellow athletes Tim Nelson, Matt Tegenkamp, Evan Jager and Chris Solinsky. In 2011, Bumbalough finished fourth in the 5000m at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships behind Bernard Lagat, Galen Rupp and teammate Chris Solinsky.

Matthew Centrowitz Jr. is an American middle-distance runner, who specializes in the 1500 metres. He won a gold medal in the event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Centrowitz is a five-time national champion in the 1500 m at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Steven Clifton Orlando Holman is a retired American middle-distance runner who competed primarily in the 1500 meters. He represented his country at the 1992 Summer Olympics as well as two indoor and two outdoor World Championships. Holman was coached at Georgetown University and in his professional career by Frank Gagliano.

Harry Prowell A.A. was a Guyanese long distance runner who represented Guyana in the Marathon at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico. He is known to be one of the greatest long distance runners Guyana and the Caribbean has ever produced, setting the national record in 1968. To date, he is the only Guyanese ever to compete in the Marathon at the Summer Olympic Games and one of the most prominent Indo-Caribbean long distance runners of his time. At the British West Indies Championships he won the gold medal in the Men's 5000m in 1965 and 1960 as well as the Gold in the 10,000m in 1960. He was a silver medalist in the Half-Marathon at the 1965 games and won Silver at both the 1959 and 1958 games in the Men's 5,000m and 10,000m events.
