Jon Berney (born 26 March 1976) is an Australian world champion lightweight rower. He won a gold medal at the 1997 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette with the lightweight men's eight. [1]
Berney's was educated and took up rowing at Geelong Grammar School. His senior club rowing was from the Barwon Rowing Club in Geelong.
In 1997, Berney made his Australian representative debut in the Lyall McCarthy coached men's lightweight eight. At the 1997 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette, Berney rowed in the four seat of that boat to a final victory by 0.03 seconds with only 1.5 lengths separating the field. Berney won his first and only World Championship title. [2]
In 1998, Berney rowed with his team-mate Alastair Isherwood from the 1997 eight in a lightweight coxless pair. They won silver and then gold at two World Rowing Cups that year in Europe, before racing that pair at the 1998 World Championships in Cologne to a fifth place finish. [2] It was Berney's last Australian representative appearance. [2]
In 2013, Berney was inducted into the Rowing Victoria Hall of Fame. [3]

Peter Thomas AntonieOAM is an Australian former rower. He is an Olympic & Commonwealth games gold medallist and world champion. He is regarded as one of Australia's greatest ever rowers figuring in senior representative squads consistently from 1977 to 1996 and representing Australia on eighteen occasions at three Olympics and fifteen World Rowing Championships. He competed at the highest levels as both a sculler and a sweep oarsman, in both lightweight and open divisions, across all boat classes. He won twenty-nine Australian national championship titles in his career.
Duncan Seth Free is a retired Australian rower and Olympic gold medallist. He is 4-time Olympian and two-time world champion who represented Australia at four world rowing championships in both sculls and sweep oared boats. He was a six-time Australian national sculling champion.
Anthony John Edwards is an Australian former lightweight rower. He is a five time Olympian, triple Olympic medallist, a world champion and a six-time Australian national champion. He represented Australia at the premier world regattas consistently over a twenty-year period from 1993 to 2012.
