Jon Sumrall (born July 5, 1982) is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach at Tulane University, a position he has held since the 2024 season. Sumrall served as the head football coach at Troy University from 2022 to 2023.
Sumrall began his coaching career at his alma mater, Kentucky, after suffering a career-ending injury. [1] After a couple of years, he coached at San Diego under former Kentucky assistant Ron Caragher. [2] He was also the co-defensive coordinator at Tulane for three seasons before going to Troy as their assistant head coach and special teams coordinator. [3]
Sumrall was named the linebackers coach at Ole Miss in January 2018. [4] He was also reported to be a finalist for the head coaching position at Troy before Chip Lindsey was hired. [5]
Sumrall returned to his alma mater Kentucky in 2019 as the program's inside linebackers coach. [6] He was promoted to co-defensive coordinator in 2021.
On December 2, 2021, Sumrall was hired as the 23rd head coach of the Troy Trojans. [7] In his first season at Troy, he guided the Trojans to a 12–2 record and an 18–12 Cure Bowl victory over the #23 ranked UTSA Roadrunners. In Sumrall's second season as the head coach he would guide Troy to a 11–2 record and back to back Sun Belt Conference Championships.
On December 8, 2023, Sumrall was hired as the 42nd head coach of the Tulane Green Wave. [8]

Lane Monte Kiffin is an American football coach who is the head coach at Ole Miss. Kiffin was the offensive coordinator at USC from 2005 to 2006, head coach of the National Football League's Oakland Raiders from 2007 to 2008, head coach at the University of Tennessee in 2009, and at USC from 2010 to 2013. He was the youngest head coach in modern NFL history at the time when he joined the Raiders, and, for a time, was the youngest head coach of a BCS Conference team in college football. Kiffin was the offensive coordinator at the University of Alabama from 2014 until 2016, when he was hired to be the head coach at Florida Atlantic, a position he held until December 2019, when he became the head coach at Ole Miss.
The Troy Trojans football program represents Troy University at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level, where it has competed since 2001. The football program joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2004. The current head football coach is Gerad Parker. Troy has won 23 conference championships, with eight in the Sun Belt Conference. The Trojans play home games at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Alabama.
Maurice Crum Jr. is an American football coach and former player who is currently the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the SMU Mustangs. He played college football at Notre Dame as a linebacker.
The 2010 Troy Trojans football team represented Troy University in the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They played their home games at Movie Gallery Stadium in Troy, Alabama and competed in the Sun Belt Conference. They were led by 20th-year head coach Larry Blakeney. They finished the season with a record of 8–5 to win a share of their fifth consecutive Sun Belt title and a 48–21 victory over Ohio in the New Orleans Bowl.
David Duggan is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach for Jackson Academy, a position he has held since 2024. He previously served as the director of recruiting at Troy University. Duggan served as the head coach for the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe from 2006 to 2007, where he compiled a record of 10–9.
Garret Chachere is an American football coach and former player who is currently the running backs coach at Western Kentucky.
The Troy Trojans are the sports teams of Troy University. They began playing in the NCAA's Division I-A in 2001, became a football only member of the Sun Belt Conference in 2004, and joined that conference for all other sports in 2005. Troy University's athletics nickname was the Red Wave until the early 1970s when the student body voted to change the name to Trojans.
Tyson Summers is an American college football coach. He is the defensive coordinator at Western Kentucky University, a position he had held since 2022. He previously served as an analyst at the University of Florida. Prior to that, Summers served as the defensive coordinator at the University of Colorado Boulder. Summers was the head football coach at Georgia Southern University from 2016 to 2017.
Chip Long is an American college football coach. He is the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach for the University of Southern Mississippi, positions he has held since 2024. He previously served as the offensive coordinator for Tulane University, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Memphis and Georgia Tech.
Russell T. Whitt is the head strength and conditioning coach for the Tulane Green Wave football team in New Orleans, LA. He previously served as the head S&C coach with the Troy Trojans football team in Troy, AL from 2020 to 2023. He previously served as an assistant S&C coach with the Army Black Knights football team at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY in 2019 and as the head S&C coach for the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team in Lubbock, TX from 2016 to 2018 and the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns football team in Lafayette, LA from 2010 to 2016.
The 2018 Troy Trojans football team represented Troy University in the 2018 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Trojans played their home games at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Alabama, and competed in the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference. They were led by fourth-year head coach Neal Brown. They finished the season 10–3, 7–1 in Sun Belt play to finish in a tie for the East Division championship with Appalachian State. Due to their head-to-head loss to Appalachian State, they did not represent the East Division in the Sun Belt Championship Game. They were invited to the Dollar General Bowl where they defeated Buffalo.
Chip Lindsey is an American college football coach and former player who is currently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served as the head coach at Troy University from 2019–2021. Lindsey was previously the quarterbacks coach at Troy during the 2010 season. Lindsey has also previously served as the offensive coordinator at the University of Southern Mississippi (2014–2015), Arizona State University (2016) Auburn University (2017–2018), and UCF (2022).
Brandon Hall is an American football coach who is currently the safeties coach at the University of Oklahoma. He was previously the coordinator at Broken Arrow High School in Oklahoma, Central Oklahoma, Jacksonville State, and Troy.
Glenn Spencer is an American college football coach. He is currently the linebackers coach at Wake Forest University, a position he has held since 2022. The 2023 Tulane Green Wave football team represented Tulane University in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) during the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Green Wave were led by Willie Fritz in his eighth and final year as head coach. They played their home games at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana. They entered this season as the defending AAC champions.

The 2024 Sun Belt Conference football season will be the 24th season of college football play for the Sun Belt Conference (SBC). The season is scheduled to begin August 31, 2024 and conclude with the Conference Championship Game on December 7, 2024. The season will be part of the 2024 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The conference will consist of 14 football member split into two divisions. The conference released its full season scheduled on March 1, 2024.
