Jozeph Johannes Gerardus Marinus "Jos" Lansink (born 19 March 1961 in Weerselo) is an equestrian from the Netherlands, currently representing Belgium, who competes in the sport of show jumping. [1]

Lansink has competed in six Olympic games, four for the Netherlands and two for Belgium. He first rode in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, tying for 7th individually and taking 5th with his team. In 1992 at the Barcelona Olympics he did not place individually, but the Dutch team won the gold. At the 1996 Atlanta Olympics he tied for 11th individually and the Dutch team took 7th. In 2000 in Sydney he tied for 20th place while riding for the Netherlands for the last time, and his team took 7th. In 2004 he began riding for Belgium at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He did not place in the individual competition, but the Belgian team took home 6th. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics he tied for 10th individually, and did not ride in the team competition. [1] He took part in both the individual and team jumping events at the 2012 Olympics. [2]

Lansink began riding at the age of three. He began to rise to international prominence in 1988 on Felix, winning a few grand prix competitions before taking part in the 1988 Olympic Games. In 1994 he won the World Cup Final on Libero, and on Caridor he took home a team bronze medal at the 2002 World Championships, finishing 6th individually. In 2004 he began his own stable. In 2006, riding the stallion Cumano, he took home the world championship. In 2009 he was the runner up for the Global Champions Tour Final. He currently competes in the Global Champions Tour for Belgium. [3]

Johannes Augustinus Petrus "Jan" Tops is an equestrian from the Netherlands, who won the gold medal in the team jumping event at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain riding Top Gun. He did so alongside Piet Raijmakers, Jos Lansink and Bert Romp. He competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1988.

The individual show jumping at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place between 15 and 21 August, at the Hong Kong Sports Institute. Like all other equestrian events, the jumping competition was mixed gender, with both male and female athletes competing in the same division. There were 77 competitors from 29 nations. The event was won by Eric Lamaze of Canada, the nation's first victory in individual jumping and first medal of any color in the event since 1976. Silver went to Rolf-Göran Bengtsson of Sweden, that nation's first medal in individual jumping since 1932. American Beezie Madden, who had led through the three qualifying rounds in 2004 before a bad first final round put her in 30th overall in Athens, took the bronze medal in Beijing.

Belgium competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. The Belgian Olympic Committee sent the nation's largest delegation to the Games since 1976. A total of 119 athletes, 75 men and 44 women, competed in 16 sports. There was only a single competitor in slalom canoeing, BMX cycling, equestrian dressage, rowing, shooting, table tennis, and weightlifting. Field hockey was the only team event in which Belgium was represented at these Olympic games.

There were 87 competitors from 30 nations. Each nation could have up to 4 riders. The event was won by Ludger Beerbaum of Germany, the nation's second victory in individual jumping. It was the third consecutive Games at which Germany competed that the nation reached the podium in the event—gold in 1936 and bronze in 1952. Piet Raymakers earned the Netherlands' first medal in the event with his silver. The United States reached the podium for the third consecutive Games with Norman Dello Joio's bronze.

Pieter Devos is Belgian show jumping rider from Diest, Belgium. He is a regular on the Belgian team and has won team gold medals at the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam (NEL) and 2018 FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona (ESP), both on Claire Z. He runs his family's fruit farm and he and his brother share Devos Stables BVBA. He married Caroline Poels in 2015 and the couple have a daughter, Lisa, born in 2017, and a son, Vic, born in 2019.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Domino van de Middelstede</span> Show jumping horse from Belgium

Domino van de Middelstede is a bay gelding from the BWP studbook, ridden in show jumping by the young Belgian rider Jos Verlooy, then by an American, Audrey Coulter. He was acquired at the age of 7 by Axel Verlooy, owner of a commercial stable and father of Jos Verlooy, to enable his son to become an international rider. The pair built a successful career, placing 5th in the final of the 2014-2015 Show Jumping World Cup in Las Vegas, in their first appearance at this level of competition. Failing to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics, the Verlooys then sold Domino to Audrey Coulter. Renowned for his intelligence and pleasant disposition, Domino was retired at the end of 2018, at the age of 15.
