Joselyn Daniely Brea (born August 12, 1994) is a Spanish - Venezuelan athlete who competes in the duathlon and track and field. She won two gold medals at the Duathlon World Championships in 2021 and 2022.

Duathlon

Brea is a two time world champion in the Duathlon. In the 2021 world championships she won the race with a time of 2:00:19. The following year in 2022 she once again won the race in a time of 1:54.30. [1]

Track and Field

Brea competed alongside her sister, Edymar, in the 5000m at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. [2] In April 2023 Brea ran 14:47.76 in the 5000, becoming the first South American athlete in history to run break 15 minutes in the event. [3] In July 2023 Brea broke the South American mile record running 4:27.41 at the Monaco Diamond League. She finished 13th in the race. Every competitor ran a personal best and seven national record were broken. [4]

She set a new outdoors personal best and South American record over 5000m running 14:36.59 at the Los Angeles Grand Prix on 17 May 2024. [5]

Brea's sister, Edymar Brea, is also a world class athlete. The two competed together in the 5000m at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. [2]

The 5000 metres or 5000-metre run is a common long-distance running event in track and field, approximately equivalent to 3 miles 188 yards or 16,404 feet 2 inches. It is one of the track events in the Olympic Games and the World Championships in Athletics, run over 12+12 laps of a standard track. The same distance in road running is called a 5K run; referring to the distance in metres rather than kilometres serves to disambiguate the two events. The 5000 m has been present on the Olympic programme since 1912 for men and since 1996 for women. Prior to 1996, women had competed in an Olympic 3000 metres race since 1984. The 5000 m has been held at each of the World Championships in Athletics in men's competition and since 1995 in women's.

Joe Klecker is an American long-distance runner. After a successful collegiate career with the Colorado Buffaloes he turned professional in 2020 joining the On Athletics Club coached by Dathan Ritzenhein. Klecker holds personal bests of 3:37.00 for 1500m, 7:34.14 for 3000m, 12:54.99 for 5000m, and 27:07.57 for 10000m, all set as a part of the On Athletics Club.

The 2021 World Triathlon Duathlon Championships was a duathlon competition held in Avilés, Spain from 6 to 7 November 2021 and organized by World Triathlon. The Elite and U23 races consisted of a 10.65 km (6.62 mi) run, 39.6 km (24.6 mi) bike and 5.2 km (3.2 mi) run. The championship also included other races per age group, junior, sprint per age group and para-duathlon.

Venezuela competed at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon from 15 to 24 July 2022. Venezuela had entered 4 athletes. Yulimar Rojas won the women's triple jump final to seal a third straight world triple jump crown, after Doha 2019 and London 2017, which made her the first three-time world champion in the discipline at the World Athletics Championships.

Edymar Brea Abreu is a Venezuelan long-distance runner. She is a double South American champion, over 5000 metres and 10,000 metres. She is also the Venezuelan national record holder in the 10,000 metres.
