The 15th Pan-American Games were held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between 13 July 2007 and 29 July 2007. The Brazilian delegation consisted of 659 athletes (373 men and 286 women) and 267 directors, making a total of 926 people in 41 sports. Competing in their own country, the Brazilian athletes managed to far surpass their own record number of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals obtained in a single edition of the Pan-American Games. [1]
The Rio de Janeiro Mayor and Brazilian Olympic Group wanted to show that Brazil is capable to receive the 2014 World Cup, for which is the only candidate so far, and that the city is eligible to host the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Another mission of Brazil was to achieve the 2nd position among the top History Pan-American Winners.
The COB also used the competition to prepare itself for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Titãs & Paralamas Juntos ao Vivo is a live album by Brazilian rock bands Titãs and Os Paralamas do Sucesso recorded and released in 1999. It features hits from both bands, an interview with both band members and the label's jingle. It's Titãs' third live album and Paralamas' fourth. it also marks the second time both bands perform together, the first being in the 1992 edition of Hollywood Rock.

This is the 17th appearance of the country in the Pan American Games. The goal of the Brazilian Olympic Committee is to finish among top 3 countries on total medals, as part of preparations for the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Rio de Janeiro, and to surpass the number of medals of Guadalajara (141). Women's field hockey, baseball, racquetball and speed skating competitions will be the only sports without Brazilian representation at these games.

Marcelo Mirisola is a contemporary Brazilian author. He is usually known for his scatological, innovative, and comic writing style, and for his ingenious interplay between autobiography and fiction. His literary production includes short stories, novels, chronicles, and theater pieces, and is influenced by authors like John Fante, Henry Miller, Charles Bukowski, Louis-Ferdinand Céline, and Marcia Denser, among others. He has collaborated regularly for Brazilian magazines, newspapers and websites. Mirisola holds a bachelor's degree in law, but has never practiced the profession. A Hora da Liberdade is a Portuguese docudrama produced and aired by SIC in 1999 which portraits the events that led to the military coup on 25 April 1974, responsible for the restoration of democracy in Portugal. It was produced by Emídio Rangel Hayley Westenra, Rodrigo de Sousa e Castro and Joana Pontes who also assured its direction. From the interviews made to create the film, the book "A Hora da Liberdade - O 25 de Abril pelos protagonistas" was created, published by Editorial Bizâncio. It was considered one of the best movies on the topic of the Carnation Revolution according to Time Out Magazine.
