Josh Schneider (born January 11, 1988) is an American competition swimmer. He is a two-time medalist at the FINA Short Course World Championships and a former American record holder in the 50-meter freestyle (short course). [1]

Swimming career

As a college swimmer at the University of Cincinnati, Schneider was a one-time NCAA champion, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 2010. [2]

At the 2010 FINA Short Course World Championships, Schneider won the bronze in the 50 m freestyle. [3] Schneider, who was swimming in lane eight, only qualified for the final after winning a swim-off against Australian Kyle Richardson. [4] Schneider also earned a gold medal in the 4×100 m medley relay for his contributions in the heats. [5]

At the 2014 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) in Doha, Qatar, Schneider was part of the winning 4x50 Mixed Freestyle Relay. He also was part of the silver medal team for the Men's 4x50m Freestyle and the Men's 4x50 Medley. [6]

At the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, Schneider won the 50m Freestyle with a time of 21.86. [7] He also received a silver in the 4 × 100 m medley relay and a bronze in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. [8]

Schneider has also won the inaugural two editions of the RCP Tiburon Sprint Classic, a 50-yard freestyle match race held in the backyard pool of swimming philanthropist Tod Spieker, in which the winner claims a $10,000 grand prize. [9]

He currently serves as an assistant coach at his alma mater, the University of Cincinnati where he also trains under head varsity swim coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle.

Personal

Schneider was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1988, the son of Greg and Sue Schneider. He is a 2006 graduate of Taylor High School in North Bend, Ohio. In high school, besides swimming, he also participated in track, golf, and football. Schneider attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated in 2010, majoring in business. Nicholas Santos Brazilian swimmer

Nicholas Araújo Dias dos Santos is a Brazilian competitive swimmer who specializes in freestyle and butterfly sprint events. He swims for Esporte Clube Pinheiros. He swam the 50-metre freestyle at the 2008 Summer Olympics and was a member of the Brazilian 4×100-meter freestyle team at the 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 50-metre butterfly, he is the World Record holder in Short Course, and he was the Americas Record Holder in Long Course.

Tom Shields American swimmer

Thomas Allen Shields is an American competitive swimmer. He is a two-time Olympian and the current American record-holder in the short course 50-meter and 200-meter butterfly events. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, Shields won a gold medal in the 4x100-meter medley relay for swimming the butterfly leg of the relay in the prelims. Later the same year he became the first American to swim faster than 44 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly, setting a new American record of 43.84. For the 2020 Summer Olympics, he swam the butterfly leg of the 4x100-meter medley relay in the prelims, and won a gold medal in the event when the finals relay finished in first place. At the Kazan stop of the 2021 FINA Swimming World Cup, Shields was the one and only swimmer representing the United States to compete in the international swimming competition, winning two gold medals and one silver medal in individual events. For the whole 2021 World Cup, Shields was the highest scoring American competitor and second-highest scoring male competitor.

Vladimir Morozov (swimmer) Russian swimmer

Vladimir Viktorovich Morozov is a Russian competitive swimmer and Olympic medalist. He is the former world record holder in the short course 100-metre individual medley, the current textile world record, World Cup record and Russian national record holder in the 100-metre individual medley and 100-metre freestyle, and Russian record holder in the 50-metre freestyle. He also holds the European record for the 100-metre individual medley. Formerly he held the Russian national record in the 50-metre backstroke and the 50-metre butterfly, and held the European and Russian records in the 50-metre breaststroke.

Kyle Chalmers, is an Australian competitive swimmer who specialises in freestyle and butterfly events. He is the world record holder in the short course 100 metre freestyle. He is also the Oceanian record and the Australian record holder in the short course 50 metre butterfly and 50 metre freestyle events.

Michael Andrew (swimmer) American swimmer

Michael Charles Andrew is an American competitive swimmer and an Olympic gold medalist. He was the 2016 world champion in the 100 meter individual medley. At his first Olympic Games, the 2020 Summer Olympics, he won a gold medal and set a world record as part of the 4x100 meter medley relay, placed fourth in the 100 meter breaststroke, fourth in the 50 meter freestyle, and fifth in the 200 meter individual medley. Andrew's swims in 2021 at the 2020 Olympics made him the first swimmer to represent the United States at an Olympic Games in an individual breaststroke event as well as another individual event other than an individual medley in the then-125-year-history of swimming at the Summer Olympics.

The 4×50 metres freestyle relay is a relay event in which each of four swimmers on a team swims a 50-metre freestyle leg in sequence. The world records are recognized by and maintained by FINA, the international competitive swimming and aquatics federation that overseas the sport in international competition.

Travis Mahoney is an Australian medley and backstroke swimmer. Winner of two relay medals at the 2012 World Short Course Championships, he is also part of the quartet that broke the world record in the short course mixed 4 × 50 metres freestyle relay. In 2016, he qualified for his first Olympic Games.

Ryan Held is an American freestyle swimmer who specializes in the sprint events, and is currently sponsored by Arena. He holds the U.S. Open record in the long course 100 meter freestyle and three world records in short course relay events. At the 2016 Summer Olympics he won a gold medal in the 4×100 meter freestyle relay, swimming in both the prelims and the final of the event. In 2021, he won silver medals in the 50 meter freestyle and the 100 meter freestyle at the 2021 World Short Course Championships.

Zach Apple American swimmer

Zachary "Zach" Douglas Apple is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in the sprint freestyle events. He currently swims for DC Trident in the International Swimming League. He won his first Olympic gold medal in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay at the 2020 Summer Olympics, swimming in the prelims and the final of the event, and later in the same Olympic Games won a gold medal and helped set a new world record and Olympic record in the 4x100-meter medley relay, swimming the freestyle leg of the relay in the final.

Kieran Smith is an American swimmer specializing in freestyle and individual medley events. He is the American record and US Open record holder in the 500 yard freestyle. At the 2021 World Short Course Championships, Smith won a gold medal and set an American record as part of the 4×200 metre freestyle relay. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, winning the bronze Olympic medal in the 400 meter freestyle, placing sixth in the 200 meter freestyle and fourth in the 4×200 meter freestyle relay. At the 2017 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, he won the silver medal in the 200 meter individual medley. He competes collegiately for the Florida Gators.

Victoria Huske is an American competitive swimmer. She is the American record holder in the 100-meter butterfly. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in the 4×100-meter medley relay, swimming the butterfly leg of the relay in the final, placing fourth in the 100-meter butterfly, and placing fifth in the 4×100-meter mixed medley relay where she also swam butterfly on the finals relay. At the 2019 World Junior championships, she won five gold medals and one silver medal. She won two gold medals and one silver medal in relay events at the 2021 World Short Course Championships.

Shaine Casas is an American professional swimmer. He was national champion in the 100-meter backstroke at the 2019 National Championships. In 2021 he was a three-time NCAA champion, once in the 100-yard backstroke, once in the 200-yard backstroke, and once in the 200-yard individual medley. At the 2021 World Short Course Championships he won a gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke and the 4×50-meter medley relay, a silver medal in the 200-meter backstroke, the 4×100-meter medley relay, and the 4×50-meter mixed medley relay, and a bronze medal as part of the 4×100-meter freestyle relay.

Sergey Geybel Russian swimmer

Sergey Geybel is a competitive Russian swimmer specializing in breaststroke events. He is a world record holder in the 4×100-metre medley relay and formerly held a world record in the 4×50-metre medley relay. He won a gold medal at the 2008 World Short Course Championships, on the world-record-setting finals relay team for the 4×100-metre medley relay. He also won two silver medals and one bronze medal over the course of his career in the 4×50-metre medley relay at the European Short Course Championships.

Daniil Markov (swimmer) Russian swimmer

Daniil Dmitrievich Markov is a Russian competitive swimmer. He is a former world junior record holder in the 4×100 metre medley relay. At the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics he won three gold medals and three silver medals. He he also won a gold medal and a silver medal at different European Short Course Swimming Championships. At the 2018 European Junior Swimming Championships he won two gold medals and one bronze medal. He won one gold medal, one silver medal, and one bronze medal in freestyle relay events at the 2021 World Short Course Championships.

Trenton Jeffrey Julian is an American competitive swimmer. He is an American record holder in the short course 4×200 meter freestyle relay. He won a gold medal in the 4×200 meter freestyle relay at the 2019 World University Games. At the 2021 World Short Course Championships he won gold medals in the 4×200 meter freestyle relay and 4×50 meter medley relay and a silver medal in the 4×100 meter medley relay, swimming butterfly on the medley relays.
