Lachit Barphukan was an Ahom Borphukan, primarily known for commanding the Ahom Army and the victory in the Battle of Saraighat (1671) that thwarted an invasion by the vastly superior Mughal Forces under the command of Ramsingh I. He died about a year later in April 1672.

Jetuka Pator Dore is a 2011 Indian Assamese drama film based on the novel of the same name by Syed Abdul Malik. The film stars Aimee Baruah and Raag Oinitom, was directed by Jadumoni Dutta and produced by Noorul Sultan for Maina Industrial Co-Operative Society Ltd. The storyline is set to the backdrop of an interior village of Assam, India in the 1970s, which has never seen progress and prosperity, and tells the story of Radha, a young woman of lower caste fighting against corruption and for the rights of her community.
Baandhon is a 2012 Assamese language drama film, starring Bishnu Kharghoria and Bina Patangia in the lead roles. The film was directed by Jahnu Barua and produced by Assam State Film Corporation Limited. The film was initially released on 26 October 2012 in the state of Assam and later on 5 July 2013 in selected PVR theaters across rest of India.
Luitok Bhetibo Kune is a 2013 Indian Assamese drama film directed by Prabin Bora, with his own screenplay and produced along with Samrat Bora under the banner of Bistirna Films. Tumi Jodi Kuwa is an Assamese musical, romantic drama film directed, dialogue and scriptwritten by Simple Gogoi and produced by Teron Jitumoni under the banner of L.N. Films. Barsha Rani Bishaya is an Indian actress who works in Assamese cinema. Ajeyo is a 2014 Assamese language drama film directed by Jahnu Barua; based on the Sahitya Akademi Award winner 1997 Assamese novel Ashirbador Rong written by Arun Sharma and adapted as screenplay by the director himself. It was produced by Shankar Lall Goenka and stars Rupam Chetia and Jupitora Bhuyan in the lead roles. The film was released on 3 January 2014.
The Prag Cine Awards 2014 ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honored the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2013 from Assam and took place on March 22, 2014, at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bangalore, India. Actors duos Kopil Bora and Zerifa Wahid hosted the show. Veteran litterateur Arun Sharma, Kannada film directorNagathihalli Chandrashekhar and Bollywood film actress Mahima Chaudhary inaugurated the event.

Rupam Bhuyan is an Indian playback singer from Assam. He is the frontman of the Indian fusion band North East Breeze. He is the lead vocalist of the band Tunetellers. He sang in numerous Assamese films including Khobh, Anuradha,Mumtaz ,Akash Chuboloi Mon, Majrati Keteki, Rough and Tough (2018), Krodh(2018), Kokaideu Bindass(2018), KonwarPurar Konwar, TRP, Sringkhal, Mahasamar,Raf and Taf, Surya, Anur, The Government Servent etc. He won Prag Cine Awards-2013 and Prag Cine Awards-2017 in the Best Playback Singer (male) category for the films Mumtaz and Majrati Keteki.He won the Best Male Playback Singer of Assam category for Ramdhenu Viewers choice award 2013 for the song Hahikhini jodi. He won best singer award in film category for the song ' Akakh Xonowali ' from Majrati Keteki in Gupshup Music Awards 2017. 'Jhumuri' the song by 'North East Breeze' received song of the year award in 'Pride East Awards' and 'Gup Shup Music Awards' in 2018. He composed the theme song for the Jeevan Kite and River Festival-2015 as a tribute to the river Brahmaputra.
Roopkar was the first Assamese language, tabloid-sized magazine about Assamese cinema, theater and culture. Established in 1974, the magazine was founded and edited by journalist and writer Pabitra Kumar Deka. Advisers of the magazine were singer & composer Bhupen Hazarika and writer Nirode Choudhury.
Anindita Paul is an Indian singer who sings predominantly in Assamese, Bengali and Hindi languages.
