Just to Let You Know... is the debut album by the British/Jamaican reggae artist Bitty McLean, released in 1993 by Brilliant Records and re-released by Virgin Records in 1994. It reached number 19 on the UK Albums Chart. [7]

Contents

Several singles from the album charted, including "It Keeps Raining" (UK #2), "Pass It On" (UK #35), "Here I Stand" (UK #10), "Dedicated to the One I Love" (UK #6) and "What Goes Around" (UK #36). [8]

Critical reception

The Independent wrote that "the result may not set the world on fire, but Bitty is nevertheless a welcome addition to the UK reggae scene." [9]

It was written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss and published by Gladys Music, Inc. The melody is based on "Plaisir d'amour", a popular French love song composed in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini. The song was initially written from the perspective of a woman as "Can't Help Falling in Love with Him", which explains the first and third line ending on "in" and "sin" rather than words rhyming with "you".

"Dedicated To The One I Love" is a song written by Lowman Pauling and Ralph Bass that was a hit for the "5" Royales, the Shirelles, the Mamas & the Papas and Bitty McLean. Pauling was the guitarist of the "5" Royales, the group that recorded the original version of the song, produced by Bass, in 1957. Their version was re-released in 1961 and charted at number 81 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song was covered by Bitty McLean in 1993, becoming a chart success in Europe and New Zealand.

As part of UB40, Campbell sold over 70 million records worldwide and toured the globe for 30 years. In 2008, Campbell left UB40 due to a dispute with band management and embarked on a solo career. In 2012, Campbell was announced as one of the three judges on the panel of the TV show New Zealand's Got Talent. In August 2014, Campbell announced he had reunited with former UB40 bandmates Astro and Mickey to record a new album, Silhouette, released on 6 October 2014.

Hits 94 Volume 1 was the first and only compilation in the Hits 94 series. In 1993, there were 4 volumes of the Hits series, however, the series was discontinued after this release. The album was released on LP, CD and Cassette by Telstar Records and BMG, and it charted at #2 in March 1994.
