The KTM 250 FRR was a racing motorcycle made by KTM, which was used in the 250cc class of Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 2005 until 2008.
The bike was created as a 250cc variant to the already existing KTM 125 FRR that KTM participated with in the 125cc. The plans to create this bike also came when the company had plans to participate with a Factory team in the 250cc class in 2005. [1] The bike was equipped with a two-cylinder engine with the arrangement of the front-facing cylinders.
The bike and team debuted relatively late in the year with Australian rider Anthony West. [2]
On its debut, West shocked many when he scored an impressive second place in a wet British grand prix, fighting for the lead after then-leader Hiroshi Aoyama crashed out with fifteen laps to go. [3] [4] However, the results after were lacklustre and West was not able to score any more podiums for the remainder of the season.
Overall, the team scored 30 points, getting a best-place finish of second, and finished third in the constructors championship.
The next season, the team expanded to two riders as West departed as the team brought on Hiroshi Aoyama and Manuel Poggiali. [5]
The team initially scored decent point results, but Aoyama impressed when he won KTM's first 250cc race at only the third round of the season in Turkey, fighting with Alex de Angelis and Héctor Barberá on the flat-out charge to the final chicane on the last lap. [6] He continued to impress by finishing third at the next race in China and repeated the feat in Great Britain.
Aoyama's good form continued on after the summer break. He narrowly snatched second from Andrea Dovizioso at the Czech round and finished third once more in Australia. Aoyama then scored an emotional home victory in Japan, picking up the fastest lap also. [7] In Portugal, Aoyama narrowly missed out on the win, finishing second 0.015 seconds behind Andrea Dovizioso. [8] At the final race in Valencia, Aoyama took the first and last pole of the season on Saturday, [9] but crashed out of the race on Sunday, causing him to end fourth in the drivers championship. Compared to Hiroshi Aoyama, Manuel Poggiali frequently struggled on the bike and failed to score any podiums of victories, instead only scoring a decent haul of points this season.
Overall, the team scored 205 points, seven podiums - two of which were victories - and finished third in the constructors championship.
After the impressive 2006 season, KTM continued to impress in 2007. Poggiali left the team and Kallio moved up from the 125cc to the 250cc KTM team.
Compared to last year, the team struggled more in the first few races, initially only scoring point finishes. The breakthrough came when Aoyama scored KTM's first podium of the season in Great Britain in the form of third. However, it was in Germany where the team scored its first 1-2 finish, Aoyama finishing ahead of Kallio, [10] [11] the latter scoring KTM's first pole of the season on Saturday. [12]
After the summer break, Kallio continued to impress by finishing in third place at the Czech round. In San Marino however, it was Aoyama who picked up another KTM podium after he finished second behind Jorge Lorenzo. After a double retirement in Portugal, Kallio took his first win of the year as a rookie in Japan. [13] Aoyama then took a pole-win at the penultimate race in Malaysia, [14] [15] Kallio finishing second on Saturday. [16] [17] At the final race of the season in Valencia, it was Kallio who took the spoils on Saturday and Sunday, taking the pole on Saturday [18] and winning the race on Sunday. [19]
Overall, the team scored 226 points, eight podiums - four of which were victories - and finished third in the constructors championship.
This was the final year for the team and the bike, as KTM had announced their withdrawal from the 250cc at the end of this season. [20] The rider line-up was expanded upon as Julián Simón joined the Repsol KTM team.
In the team's final year, the team continued to do well. Mika Kallio scored a third-place finish at the opening round in Qatar and improved upon his efforts at the next round in Spain by scoring the team's first victory of the season, profiting from a last-lap collision between Marco Simoncelli and Álvaro Bautista. [21] [22] Kallio then took another third place when he narrowly missed out on second in Portugal, then took another win in China, as well as fastest lap, with Aoyama finishing second - his first podium of the season and KTM's first and only 1-2 finish of the year. [23] [24] [25] After a few lacklustre races, Kallio's third victory arrived in Great Britain, beating Simoncelli by 0.353 seconds. [26] Kallio then continued to impress, but failed to score any podiums until he finished third in Australia. Aoyama scored KTM's final pole position on Saturday [27] and second place podium finish at the Malaysian round, [28] before the team's permanent departure from the 250cc class.
Overall, the team scored 245 points, eight podiums - three of which were victories - and finished third in the constructors championship.

Valentino Rossi is an Italian racing driver, former professional motorcycle road racer and nine-time Grand Prix motorcycle racing World Champion. Nicknamed The Doctor, Rossi is widely considered one of the greatest motorcycle racers of all time. He is also the only road racer to have competed in 400 or more Grands Prix. Of Rossi's nine Grand Prix World Championships, seven were in the premier 500cc/MotoGP class. He holds the record for most premier class victories and podiums, with 89 victories and 199 podiums to his name. He won premier class World Championships with both Honda and Yamaha. He rode with the number 46 for his entire career.
Daniel Pedrosa Ramal is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer who retired from regular competition after the 2018 season. He grew up in Castellar del Vallès, a village near Sabadell. He is a three-time World Champion being the 125cc world champion in 2003, 250cc world champion in 2004, the youngest ever to win it and repeated it in 2005.

Álvaro Bautista Arce is a Spanish motorcycle road racer. He won the 2022 and 2023 Superbike World Championship with the Ducati factory team. He was the 2006 125cc World Champion and runner-up in 250cc, and finished in the top six in MotoGP in 2012 and 2013. He competed in the MotoGP class from 2010 to 2018.
Jorge Lorenzo Guerrero is a Spanish former professional motorcycle racer. He is a five-time World Champion, with three MotoGP World Championships and two 250cc World Championships.
Mika Kallio is a Finnish Grand Prix motorcycle racer, currently serving as the lead test and development rider for the Red Bull KTM team in MotoGP. He debuted in the 125cc World Championship with the Finnish rookie team Ajo Motorsport in the 2001 German Grand Prix and was awarded the "Rookie of the Year" with the team in 2002. After moving to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team during the 2003 season, he finished runner-up in the 125cc class in both 2005 and 2006, and also finished runner-up in the 2014 Moto2 World Championship. Moving up to MotoGP full-time for 2009 and 2010, he obtained the "Rookie of the Year" award in his first season in the premier class.
Gábor Talmácsi is a Hungarian former professional motorcycle racer. He was the 2007 125cc World Champion, and he is the first and only Hungarian to win a road racing World Championship. He has a younger brother, Gergő, who is also a motorcycle racer. Due to a leg injury suffered in 2013, Talmácsi has retired from racing professionally. After retiring from racing, he set up his own team Talmácsi Racing, which competed in the European Superstock 600 Championship and raced with Honda CBR600RRs, until the series folded at the end of 2015.
Ajo Motorsport is a Finnish Grand Prix motorcycle racing team, currently competing in the Moto2 and Moto3 classes under the name Red Bull KTM Ajo. The team's founder and principal is former racer Aki Ajo. His son, former racer Niklas Ajo, is also involved in the team as crew chief and race engineer in the Moto3 programme.
The 2002 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 54th F.I.M. Road racing World Championship season. The season consisted of 16 races, beginning with the Japanese motorcycle Grand Prix on 7 April 2002 and ending with the Valencian Community motorcycle Grand Prix on 3 November.
Andrea Dovizioso is an Italian former professional motorcycle racer. He raced with WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team for the 2022 season but announced his intended-retirement after the Misano round in September. Dovizioso was the 2004 125cc World Champion, but is best known for his time with the Ducati Team in the MotoGP class, finishing championship runner-up to Marc Márquez for three consecutive seasons in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The 2008 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 60th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. The season consisted out of 18 races for the MotoGP class and 17 for the 125cc and 250cc classes, beginning with the Qatar motorcycle Grand Prix on 9 March 2008 and ending with the Valencian Community motorcycle Grand Prix on 26 October.

Hiroshi Aoyama is a Japanese retired Grand Prix motorcycle road racer, and current team principal of Honda Team Asia. Aoyama is best known for winning the 2009 250cc World Championship title. He is the older brother of former 250cc and World Superbike rider, Shuhei Aoyama.
Marco Simoncelli, nicknamed Sic, was an Italian professional motorcycle racer. He competed in the MotoGP World Championship for 10 years from 2002 to 2011. He started in the 125cc class before moving up to the 250cc class in 2006. He won the 2008 250cc World Championship with Gilera. After four years in the intermediate class, he stepped up to the top MotoGP class in 2010, racing with the Honda Gresini Team. He died in an accident at the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang.
Marc Márquez Alentà is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle road racer who races for the satellite Ducati team Gresini Racing MotoGP. He previously raced for Honda's factory team from his MotoGP debut in 2013 until 2023. Born in Cervera, Catalonia, Spain, he is nicknamed the 'Ant of Cervera' worldwide (due to his height of 5' 7", and 'el tro de Cervera' in his hometown, meaning the 'Thunder of Cervera'. He is one of four riders to have won world championship titles in three different categories, after Mike Hailwood, Phil Read and Valentino Rossi, and is one of the most successful motorcycle racers of all time, with eight Grand Prix World Championships to his name, six of which are in the premier class. Márquez became the third Spaniard after Àlex Crivillé and Jorge Lorenzo to win the premier class title, and is the most successful Spanish rider in MotoGP to date with 62 wins, most recently the 2024 Australian Grand Prix. In 2013 he became the first rider since Kenny Roberts in 1978 to win the premier class title in his first season, and the youngest to win the title overall, at 20 years and 266 days of age.
Shuhei Aoyama is a former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He is the younger brother of MotoGP rider Hiroshi Aoyama.

The 2014 Valencian Community motorcycle Grand Prix was the eighteenth and last round of the 2014 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It was held at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia on 9 November 2014.
The 2017 Japanese motorcycle Grand Prix was the fifteenth round of the 2017 MotoGP season. It was held at the Twin Ring Motegi in Motegi on October 15, 2017. Andrea Dovizioso won his fifth race of the season after a last lap battle with championship leader Marc Márquez, shrinking his lead to 11 points with three rounds left to race. Danilo Petrucci finished in third place over 10 seconds behind the leaders, while Team Suzuki teammates Andrea Iannone and Álex Rins finished fourth and fifth respectively.
The KTM 125 FRR was a racing motorcycle made by KTM, which was used in the 125cc class of Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 2003 until 2011. The bike has been replaced by the KTM RC250GP from 2012 onwards.
