The film stars Kamal Haasan in a dual role, alongside Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar and Sukanya. The music composed by A. R. Rahman, while the cinematography and editing were handled by Jeeva and B. Lenin-V. T. Vijayan. It revolves around a retired freedom fighter who rebels against corruption in India, especially bribery.

Anbe Sivam is a 2003 Indian Tamil-language slice-of-life drama film directed by Sundar C. and produced by K. Muralitharan, V. Swaminathan and G. Venugopal under the banner of Lakshmi Movie Makers. The film was written by Kamal Haasan, and Madhan provided the dialogues. Anbe Sivam stars Haasan, Madhavan and Kiran Rathod, with Nassar, Santhana Bharathi, Seema and Uma Riyaz Khan playing supporting characters. The film tells the story of Nallasivam and Anbarasu, two men of contrasting personalities who undertake an unexpected journey from Bhubaneswar to Chennai.

Nagesh (born Cheyur Krishnarao Nageshwaran; was an Indian actor, mostly remembered for his roles as a comedian in Tamil films during the 1960s. Nagesh was born in Dharapuram. He acted in over 1,000 films from 1958 to 2008, performing in a variety of roles as comedian, lead roles, supporting actor and antagonist. He has also acted in Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada films. Nagesh's style of comedy was largely inspired by Hollywood actor Jerry Lewis. Similarities between Nagesh and Lewis earned Nagesh the sobriquet the "Jerry Lewis of India". He was also nicknamed as the King of Comedy due to his impeccable comedy timing and body language. He featured regularly in the film projects of M. G. Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganesan even at a time when there was a massive rift between the two leading actors in Tamil cinema at that time.

The script was co-written by Haasan, along with novelist Sujatha, and the pair started work on the project in late 1991. Following a test shoot in mid-1997, the film was officially launched at a ceremony held at MGR Film City, Chennai during October 1997.

Indian 2 is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language vigilante action film directed by S. Shankar, who co-wrote the screenplay with B. Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravana Kumar. It is jointly produced by Subaskaran Allirajah's Lyca Productions and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. The sequel to Indian (1996), Kamal Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption. S. J. Vikram is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International. The film stars Kamal Haasan in the titular role, alongside Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Gayathrie, Chemban Vinod Jose, Santhana Bharathi and Elango Kumaravel. It is the second instalment in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe and is a spiritual successor to the 1986 film of the same name. The film follows Vikram, a former commander of the black-ops squad's pilot batch, who sets to take down Sandhanam, the runner of a drug syndicate named Vetti Vagaiyara.

Shruti Haasan is an Indian actress, composer and playback singer who works in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada films. Haasan sang her first song aged just six in her father's Thevar Magan, a composition of Ilaiyaraaja. While in school, Haasan made her singing debut in the Hindi language film Chachi 420, which was directed by her father. Haasan sang the bilingual versions of the title theme "Rama Rama" with her father, in Hindi and in Tamil, for the film Hey Ram. The album from Ilaiyaraaja, which was critically praised, won Haasan accolades for her efforts with Screen India saying that she "has the makings of a good singer, and with some training she should go great guns."
