Kanukuntla Subhash Chandrabose is an Indian lyricist and playback singer who works in Telugu cinema. [2] Chandrabose debuted as a lyricist with the 1995 film Taj Mahal . [3] In a career spanning over 25 years, he has written lyrics for about 3600 songs in over 850 films. [4] [5] Chandrabose won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for the song "Naatu Naatu" from RRR (2022). He has received one National Award, [6] two Nandi Awards, two Filmfare Awards, and three SIIMA Awards as a lyricist.

Early life and career

Chandrabose was born in the village of Challagariga of Warangal district, Andhra Pradesh (now in Bhupalpally district, Telangana), where he completed high school. [1] He is the youngest of four siblings, and his father worked as a primary school teacher. [1] He earned a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. [5] [7] Early in his career, he tried working as a singer in Doordarshan, without success. He then decided to switch to working as a lyricist. [7]

He entered the film industry with Muppalaneni Shiva's film Taj Mahal (1995). Music director M. M. Srilekha helped him with his first film song, "Manchu Kondallona Chandramaa" in 1995. [1] [3] He adopted Chandrabose as his screen name on the advice of his first director Muppalaneni Siva. [1] [2]

Chandrabose married Suchitra, a choreographer in the Telugu film industry. [8]

<i>Konda Polam</i> 2021 film directed by Krish

Konda Polam is a 2021 Indian Telugu-language action thriller film directed by Krish Jagarlamudi. Produced by First Frame Entertainments, it stars Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Rakul Preet Singh while Sai Chand, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Nassar play supporting roles. The film is an adaptation of the eponymous novel by Sannapureddy Venkata Rami Reddy. Konda Polam was released on 8 October 2021 and ended up as a commercial failure.

"Naatu Naatu" is an Indian Telugu-language song composed by M. M. Keeravani, with lyrics by Chandrabose and recorded by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava for the soundtrack album of the 2022 Indian film RRR. It was released on 10 November 2021 as the second single from the album, through Lahari Music and T-Series. The full video song, featuring visuals directly from the film, was released on 11 April 2022 on YouTube.
