Bhaskarabhatla Ravi Kumar is an Indian lyricist predominantly works in Telugu cinema. [3] [4] He worked for more than 125 films and penned lyrics for more than 390 songs. [5] He extensively worked with director Puri Jagannadh and music director Chakri and S. S. Thaman. He is famous for songs appealing to the masses. [6] His primary genres are mass, romantic, and melodies. He won two Santosham Film Awards in 2006 and 2008 and a SIIMA award in 2013.

Personal life

Bhaskarabhatla was born on 5 June 1974 in Srikakulam [2] and brought up in Rajahmundry among five siblings.[ citation needed ] In his childhood he got interested in literature from his maternal grand father Aravelli Rajagopalacharya. While in Rajahmundry he used to frequent Gouthami Library and it influenced him to venture into poetry. [7] Since his childhood he used to get inspired from the film posters. He completed B.A in Telugu and worked as a film journalist in Eenadu, Hyderabad for 10 years. [1] Later he left his job to pursue a career in film industry.

He married Lalitha who is a B.Sc graduate from Warangal on 13 August 1998. The couple has two daughters Amanta, Samhita.

Career

He started his career as a lyricist in 2000 with the film Goppinti Alludu directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana starring Nandamuri Balakrishna.[ citation needed ] He was encouraged to be a lyricist by actor Tanikella Bharani and composer Chakri. [7] He got break with the 2001 film Itlu Sravani Subramanyam directed by Puri Jagannadh which was a musical hit. He worked with Puri Jagannadh for 15 films and worked with composer Chakri for 65 films.[ citation needed ]

Chakri and Bhaskarabhatla both started their careers together. [8] He also worked with popular directors like E. V. V. Satyanarayana, Trivikram Srinivas, Harish Shankar etc.

His popular songs include Malli Kuyave Guvva from Itlu Sravani Subramanyam, Ippatikinka Naa Vayasu from Pokiri, Bommanu Geesthe from Bommarillu, Gallo Thelinattunde from Jalsa, Pellenduke Ravanamma from Bumper Offer "Katuka kanule" from Soorarai Pottru.

Awards

In 2006 he won Santosham film awards for his song in Bommarillu. [9] In 2008 he won Santosham film award for the film Neninthe. In 2013 he won SIIMA Award for Best Lyricist (Telugu) for the song ''Sir Osthara'' in Businessman. [10]

Ghantasala Sai Srinivas, known professionally as Thaman S., and earlier as S. S. Thaman, is an Indian music composer, professional drummer, and playback singer who predominantly works in Telugu and Tamil films. Thaman is a child prodigy who started playing drums at the age of 3. His father was his first teacher, who was also an accomplished drummer who worked with the likes of legendary percussionist Sivamani. Thaman entered the film industry as a supporting drummer at the age of 11 when he accompanied his father for the background score of Telugu film Bhairava Dweepam in 1994. He performed in 7000 stage shows all over the world before becoming a music director. He worked for 64 Indian music directors as a rhythm box player, keyboard programmer and drummer for 900 films before he became a film music director. Businessman is the feature film soundtrack of the 2012 crime-action film of the same name starring Mahesh Babu and Kajal Aggarwal. Thaman marking his first collaboration with him and Thaman's second collaboration with Mahesh Babu after Dookudu (2011). The official soundtrack album consists of 6 songs composed by S. Thaman and Bhaskarabhatla Ravi Kumar penning the lyrics. Kandikonda was an Indian film lyricist known for his works in Telugu cinema. Kandikonda was born in Nagurlapally, Narsampet Mandal, Warangal district. He was awarded a doctorate for his thesis on Situational songs in Telugu cinema from Osmania University.

Parasuram Petla is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Telugu cinema. Parasuram began his career in the film industry as an assistant director to his cousin Puri Jagannadh and later to Bhaskar. He made his directorial debut in 2008 with the film Yuvatha. Then, he went on to direct films like Anjaneyulu (2009), Solo (2011), Srirastu Subhamastu (2016), Geetha Govindam (2018), and Sarkaru Vaari Paata (2022).

SIIMA Award for Best Lyricist – Telugu is presented by Vibri media group as part of its annual South Indian International Movie Awards, for the best lyrics done by a writer for a Telugu song. The award was first given in 2012 for songs and films released in 2011. Ramajogayya Sastry is the most nominated with 11 nominations and Ramajogayya Sastry and Chandrabose are the most awarded with three times winning the award.
