Kathmandu Kings XI are a professional franchise cricket team based in the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. One of the major franchises in Everest Premier League since 2017,Which is owned by Ramesh Corp. [1] [2] [3]

Management

The team was owned by Rohit Gupta, as of 2017. [1] As of 2017, Raj Jung Thapa was the chief operating officer (COO) and was later named chief executive officer (CEO) of the City-based Franchises. The same year, the team signed Binod Das as head coach. [3]

Players

In 2017, Sompal Kami was designated the marquee player of the team, while Sri Lankan international cricketer Mohamed Ferveez Maharoof was signed on as skipper for an undisclosed sum. It also signed two other foreign players, Akshay Fernandez of Sri Lanka and Sagar Kumar of India. [1] Other players in the team included Sagar Pun and Amit Shrestha. [4]

In the 2018 season, the team was captained by Sompal Kami. [3] Its players included Siddhant Lohani, Raju Rijal, Bikram Bhusal, [5] Rohan Mustafa, Kevin O'Brien, Jitendra Mukhiya and Pradeep Sahu. [2] Sikandar Raza was also expected to sign on but had to withdraw at the last minute. [3]

On 26 July 2021, they announced the signing of Shahid Afridi. [6] [7]

Everest Premier League

2017 season

The team secured their first win of the season in their third game, played against Chitwan Tigers, having lost their first two matches to Lalitpur Patriots and Bhairahawa Gladiators. [4]

2018 season

The team reached the playoffs with a match to spare in the league stage. [2] It was defeated by Lalitpur Patriots in the first qualifier by one wicket. [5]

Corey James Anderson is a former New Zealand cricketer who has played as an all-rounder for New Zealand in international cricket, as well as Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians in the IPL and Northern Districts in New Zealand first class cricket. After retiring from the New Zealand team in 2020, he announced his intention to play for the USA Cricket Team in 2022.

They named Shahid Afridi as their icon player in late June.

Sompal Kami is a Nepalese professional cricketer. Kami is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He is one of the eleven cricketers to play in Nepal's first ever One Day International (ODI) match, against the Netherlands, in August 2018. In January 2019, he became the first bowler for Nepal to take a five-wicket haul in an ODI match.

Everest Premier League (EPL) is a franchise Twenty20 cricket tournament organized by EPL Pvt. Ltd., a private group in Nepal run by Aamir Akhtar alongside his team including Kieran Holds and Jack Edmondson. It is the biggest cricket tournament in the country, played during the northern winter calendar, mostly in the month of December. It is played in round-robin format in which top four teams qualify for the playoffs. The tournament is renowned for having high attendance among the domestic cricket of the ICC associate nations. The first edition of the tournament was held in September 2016 with six franchises consisting of domestic and international players. Chitwan Tigers are the defending champions after winning the 2021 season.

The 2017 Everest Premier League, also abbreviated as 2017 EPL, and branded as TVS EPL 2017 was the second edition of the Everest Premier League, a professional men's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Nepal. The tournament was scheduled to be held from 18 December 2017 to 30 December 2017. The tournament featured six teams and their names were based on the cities.

The 2018 Everest Premier League, also known as EPL3 or 2018 TVS EPL because of the sponsorship reason, was the third edition of the Everest Premier League, a professional men's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Nepal. The tournament was held from 8 December 2018 to 22 December 2018. Biratnagar Warriors were defending champions for the tournament but they were eliminated in the group stage. Lalitpur Patriots won the 2018 season and it's their first title.

The 2021 Everest Premier League, also known as EPL4 or Bajaj Pulsar EPL for sponsorship reasons, was the fourth edition of the Everest Premier League, a professional men's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Nepal. The event was initially scheduled for December 2019, before being postponed multiple times. Lalitpur Patriots were the defending champions, having won their first title in 2018, but were eliminated in the group stage after finishing fifth.

Bhairahawa Gladiators is a professional cricket franchise team based in Bhairahawa city, Nepal which participates in the Everest Premier League. Under the leadership of captain Sharad Vesawkar, they reached the finals of 2017 and 2018 edition of the league which they lost to Biratnagar Warriors and Lalitpur Patriots by 1 and 14 runs respectively.

Lalitpur Patriots is a professional cricket franchise team based in Lalitpur, Nepal which participates in the Everest Premier League. Founded in 2017, the team is owned by Mr. Kishore Maharjan and Ms. Srijana Joshi Maharjan. They won the 2018 edition of the league defeating Bhairahawa Gladiators by 14 runs, under the leadership of captain Gyanendra Malla. As of November 2018, Raju Basnyat was the head coach for the franchise. The team was captained by Kushal Bhurtel in 2021 season.

Chitwan Tigers is a professional cricket franchise based in Chitwan, Nepal, that plays in the Everest Premier League. It is owned by the IDS Group Pvt Ltd. National players like Dipendra Singh Airee, Dilip Nath and Lalit Singha Bhandari as well as international players like Paul Stirling of Ireland and former U-19 captain of the England Cricket Team, Max Holden, have been part of the team, while Subash Khakurel was the manager, As of 2017. In December 2018, the franchise signed a sponsorship deal with Tensberg beer. Chitwan Tigers won their maiden title of Everest Premier League after defeating Pokhara Rhinos by 4 wickets in the 2021 Everest Premier League.

The 2020 Lanka Premier League also known as My11Circle LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. Five teams based on various Sri Lankan cities played a total of 23 matches. It was originally scheduled to start in August but was rescheduled several times due to restrictions for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Galle Gladiators are a Sri Lankan franchise professional Twenty20 cricket team that competes in the Lanka Premier League, Sri Lanka and representing the city of Galle, Southern Province. Nadeem Omar, who owns the Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan Super League, purchased the franchise in 2020. Pakistan's veteran cricketer, Wasim Akram is the mentor of the team while Moin Khan and Azam Khan act as team's coach and manager respectively. Pakistan's star all-rounder, Shahid Afridi signed up as the marquee foreign player.

The Galle Gladiators is a franchise cricket team which played in the inaugural season of the Lanka Premier League. The team is based in Galle, Southern Province, Sri Lanka. The team remained under the captaincy of Pakistani cricketer, Shahid Afridi, for the first three matches. However, due to an emergency, the captain left the league for the remaining matches of the tournament, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa assumed the captaincy. The team was coached by Pakistani cricket coach Moin Khan. The team is owned by Pakistani organizer Nadeem Omar, who also owns the Pakistan Super League's Quetta Gladiators.

Jaykishan Anilbhai Kolsawala is an Indian cricketer. He has played cricket across all three of the major domestic formats in India for the Baroda cricket team, in addition to playing domestic cricket in Nepal for Lalitpur Patriots since 2017 in the Everest Premier League. He has also represented for Kathmandu Golden Warriors in Nepal's domestic league Pokhara Premier League and for CYC Attariya in Dhangadhi Premier League.
