The 2021 Everest Premier League, also known as EPL4 or Bajaj Pulsar EPL [1] for sponsorship reasons, was the fourth edition of the Everest Premier League, a professional men's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Nepal. The event was initially scheduled for December 2019, before being postponed multiple times. Lalitpur Patriots were the defending champions, having won their first title in 2018, but were eliminated in the group stage after finishing fifth. [2]

Background

The fourth edition of the Everest Premier League was originally scheduled to be held from 8 to 22 December 2019, but was rescheduled to run from 29 February to 14 March 2020. [3] but was rescheduled again, to run from 14 to 28 March 2020. On 5 March, the event was postponed again due to the coronavirus pandemic. [4] In February 2021, the 2021 Everest Premier League dates were announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal as 25 September – 9 October 2021. [5] [6] [7] [8] The dates were chosen to coincide with the Vijayadashami festival in Nepal. [6] [7] All matches will be played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kathmandu. The prize money for the competition has been doubled from the 2018 edition, and will be 5 million nepalese rupees (NPR). The runners-up will earn 1.5 million NPR. [10]

Everest Premier League (EPL) is a franchise Twenty20 cricket tournament organized by EPL Pvt. Ltd., a private group in Nepal. It is the biggest cricket tournament in the country, played during the northern winter calendar, mostly in the month of December. It is played in round-robin format in which top four teams qualify for the playoffs. The tournament is renowned for having high attendance among the domestic cricket of the ICC associate nations. The first edition of the tournament was held in September 2016 with six franchises consisting of domestic and international players. Chitwan Tigers are the defending champions after winning the 2021 season.

The 2016 Everest Premier League was the debut season of the Everest Premier League. It was supposed to be the second edition of the Nepal Premier League, abbreviated as NPL, and was scheduled to be held from 26 March to 4 April 2015 in Kirtipur. but Cricket Association of Nepal insisted that it will not support the tournament unless its name is changed. Later, the board decided to uphold the tournament as the name was changed to Everest Premier League and provided the ground for competition. The tournament began on 24 September and ended on 3 October 2016.

The 2017 Everest Premier League, also abbreviated as 2017 EPL, and branded as TVS EPL 2017, was the second edition of the Everest Premier League, a professional men's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Nepal. The tournament was scheduled to be held from 18 December 2017 to 30 December 2017. The tournament featured six teams and their names were based on the cities.

2018 Dhangadhi Premier League is the second season of Dhangadhi Premier League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league in Nepal. The tournament started on 31 March and ended on 14 April in Dhangadhi. Team Chauraha Dhangadhi were the defending champions.

The 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was the tournament played as part of qualification process for the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup.

The 2020 Manmohan Memorial National One-Day Cricket Tournament was the second edition of one of the main domestic 50-over competitions in Nepal, alongside the Prime Minister One Day Cup. The tournament featured sides representing the seven provinces of Nepal plus three departments, the host club and a Malaysian XI. This was the second edition of the tournament after the first was held in January 2019. The Malaysian national side played a series of one-day matches against Nepal after the conclusion of the tournament.

The 2021–22 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League was an edition of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, a List A cricket competition that was held in Bangladesh. It was the eighth edition of the tournament with List A status, although almost 35 seasons have been played before achieving the status. The tournament took place from 15 March to 28 April 2022. The previous edition of the tournament, in March 2020, ended after just one round of matches, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was abandoned and later replaced by the 2021 Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League.

The 2022 Nepal T20 League, was inaugural edition of the Nepal T20 League, a professional men's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Nepal. The tournament was played from 24 December 2022 to 11 January 2023.
