The Manmohan Memorial National One-Day Cup (MM Cup) is a one-day cricket tournament in Nepal. It is one of two main 50-over tournaments in Nepal, the other being the Prime Minister One Day Cup. [1]

History

Shanti Deep Nepal organised the first Manmohan Memorial National One-Day Cup in January 2019 as one of the premier 50-over domestic cricket tournaments in Nepal, alongside the Prime Minister One Day Cup. [1] The same seven provincial sides and three departmental sides are involved in both tournaments. This event also includes host club MMCC Inaruwa and an invited foreign side. In 2019, the Malaysian national team is competing ahead of a series against Nepal. [2]

Nepal national cricket team National cricket team of Nepal

The Nepal national cricket team nicknamed The Rhinos and Gorkhalis, represents the country of Nepal in International cricket and is governed by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). They have been an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1996. Nepal were awarded Twenty20 International (T20I) status by the ICC in June 2014 until the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier. Inaruwa is a municipality and headquarters of Sunsari District located 25 km (16 mi) east of the Koshi Barrage and 18.6 km (11.6 mi) east of Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve in Province No. 1, Nepal. It covers an area of 77.92 km2 (30.09 sq mi).

Paras Khadka is a former Nepalese professional cricketer. He was the captain of the Nepalese cricket team from 2008 to 2019. All-rounder Khadka is a right-handed batsman, a right-arm medium-fast bowler, and an occasional off break bowler. He made his debut for Nepal against Malaysia in April 2004. He was one of the eleven cricketers to play in Nepal's first ever One Day International (ODI) match, against the Netherlands, in August 2018. On 3 August 2021, Khadka announced his retirement from international cricket.He was Nepal's All-time highest run scorer in both ODI and T20I format until his retirement.

Nepal Police Club is a sports club owned and managed by Nepal Police. The club competes in the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League, the top flight of Nepali club football.

Cricket Association of Nepal

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is the official governing body of cricket in Nepal. It was suspended from 2016 to 13 October 2019 due to governmental interference. The ICC welcomed the elections of the board held in September 2019 and formally reinstated the board on a conditional basis on 14 October. Its headquarters is in Kathmandu, Nepal. Cricket Association of Nepal is Nepal's representative at the International Cricket Council (ICC) and remains an associate member, having been a member since 1988 AD. It is also a member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Cricket in Nepal

Cricket is the most popular sport in Nepal. It is played by many people throughout the country, especially in the Terai region. The biggest cricketing achievement of the national cricket team was when the team reached the qualification tournament of 2014 ICC World T20 held in Bangladesh. Nepal's playing season runs from September to November and starts again in March before finishing in May. The National Cricket Academy, NCA, was formally opened in January 2013 by the Cricket Association of Nepal to guide emerging players and to provide continuous training facilities to the men's national team, women's national team and the under-19 team. As of December 2012, there were 429 senior cricket clubs and 227 junior cricket clubs in Nepal.

Nepal A.P.F. Club, commonly known as APF Club, is a sports club based in Kathmandu, Bagmati Province, Nepal. The club is the sports-wing of the Armed Police Force.

Nepal Army Club

Nepal Army Club, also known as Tribhuwan Army Club, is the departmental Army sporting club of Nepal and is based in Kathmandu. In cricket they play top domestic league National League Cricket, and in Prime Minister One Day Cup whereas in football they currently play in the top division of the country Martyr's Memorial A-Division League.

Prithu Baskota Nepalese cricketer

Prithu Baskota is a Nepalese cricketer. All-rounder Prithu is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off break bowler. He made his debut for Nepal against Maldives in November 2010.

National League Cricket was an annual cricket tournament held in Nepal. It was administered by the Cricket Association of Nepal.

Sompal Kami Nepalese cricketer (born 1996)

Sompal Kami is a Nepalese professional cricketer. Kami is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He was one of the eleven cricketers to play in Nepal's first ever One Day International (ODI) match, against the Netherlands, in August 2018. In January 2019, he became the first bowler for Nepal to take a five-wicket haul in an ODI match.

Aarif Sheikh is a Nepalese cricketer, who was the vice-captain of the Nepal national under-19 cricket team, and currently plays for the senior team. All-rounder Aarif is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. He made his debut for Nepal against Hong Kong in May 2014.

The 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament that was held in Malaysia from 29 August to 6 September 2018. The event served as the qualifier for the 2018 Asia Cup. The top two teams from the group stage met in the final, with the winner progressing to the 2018 Asia Cup. The fixture between the United Arab Emirates and Nepal on 30 August 2018 was a One Day International (ODI) match. It was the first time both sides had played each other in an ODI match, with the UAE going on to win the fixture by 78 runs.

The Prime Minister Cup One-Day Cricket Tournament is a one-day cricket tournament in Nepal organised by the Cricket Association of Nepal. It was formerly administered by the National Sports Council while CAN was suspended. It was played amongst 8 teams in 2017 and is played amongst 10 teams from 2018 onward.

The 2020 Manmohan Memorial National One-Day Cricket Tournament was the second edition of one of the main domestic 50-over competitions in Nepal, alongside the Prime Minister One Day Cup. The tournament featured sides representing the seven provinces of Nepal plus three departments, the host club and a Malaysian XI. This was the second edition of the tournament after the first was held in January 2019. The Malaysian national side played a series of one-day matches against Nepal after the conclusion of the tournament.

Aasif Sheikh is a Nepalese cricketer, who plays as right-handed wicket-keeper batsman. He made his debut for Nepal against Netherlands in April 2021.

Shahab Alam is a Nepalese cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox spinner. He made his debut for Nepal against Netherlands in April 2021.

Bagmati Province cricket team, also known as Team Bagmati is a Nepali provincial cricket team, based in the Bagmati Province of Nepal. The team plays limited overs and Twenty20 cricket in the Prime Minister One Day Cup and the Gautam Buddha Cup. The team is currently being run under the Cricket Association of Bagmati Province, with Gyanendra Malla as the team captain.

The 2021–22 Oman Quadrangular Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Oman in February 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Oman along with Ireland, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates. The series provided all four teams with preparation for the T20 World Cup Global Qualifier Group A, which began on 18 February 2022.
