Kawagama Lake is located on the northwestern border of Haliburton and Muskoka counties in Central Ontario, Canada. [1]
Kawagama lake is the largest lake in Haliburton county, it does not have any towns or settlements on it. From the northwestern bay (Fletcher Bay) to its southeastern tip (the Hollow River) it is over 16 kilometres (10 mi) in length. In its central area, it is 2.5 kilometres (2 mi). It has two marinas ( Mountain Trout House and Old Mill Marina) and two access points. The word "kawagama" is Native for "hollow".[ citation needed ] At the northeast end of Kawagama Lake it connects to Bear Lake.
The main area of the lake has eight inhabited islands, one housing a camp called Moorelands camp for underprivileged children from the Greater Toronto Area.
The maximum depth of the lake is 67 metres (220 ft) with an average depth of 21 metres (69 ft). The shoreline is approximately 83 kilometres (52 mi) long. The Ministry of Natural Resources controls the lake level.
Fourteen creeks and small rivers feed Kawagama Lake, the two main ones are the short Bear River and the Hollow River. The Hollow River flows into the Lake of Bays.
Kawagama lake is home to water birds such as loons and ducks, mammals such as black bears, moose, deer, foxes and raccoons and fish such as lake trout and bass.
The communities of Dorset, Dwight and Baysville are the closest settlements, while the largest major settlement is Huntsville.
The English River is a river in Kenora District and Thunder Bay District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It flows through Lac Seul to join the Winnipeg River at Tetu Lake as a right tributary. The river is in the Hudson Bay drainage basin, is 615 kilometres (382 mi) long and has a drainage basin of 52,300 square kilometres (20,200 sq mi). Although there are several hydroelectric plants on this river, the English River upstream of Minnitaki Lake is notable as one of the few large river systems in northwestern Ontario with a natural flow and without any upstream source of pollution. It is the fourth longest river entirely in Ontario.
The Petawawa River is a river in the Saint Lawrence River drainage basin in Nipissing District and Renfrew County in eastern and northeastern Ontario, Canada. The river flows from Algonquin Provincial Park to the Ottawa River at the town of Petawawa, and is only one of two major tributaries of the Ottawa River to flow completely free. The river's name comes from the Algonquian for "where one hears a noise like this", which refers to its many rapids.

Limerick Lake is a lake in the Trent River and Lake Ontario drainage basins in the township of Limerick, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) northwest of the community of St. Ola, 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) northeast of Highway 62, and 25 kilometres (16 mi) southeast of the town of Bancroft. In 1934, the building of St. Ola Dam raised the level of Big Salmon Lake by two metres. The lake was then renamed, as part of a process in Ontario to give each large lake a unique name. The original concrete dam was assessed in 2002 and significant cracking was found. The dam was replaced in 2004 with a new concrete dam. The waterway falls under the jurisdiction of the Crowe Valley Conservation Authority which has responsibility for furthering the conservation, development, and management of natural resources, but whose main activity is flood control.

The lake is part of the Kawartha Lakes, and lies in the Great Lakes Basin. It is part of cottage country approximately a 2+1⁄2-hour drive away from Toronto.
Lake of Bays is a large lake in the District Municipality of Muskoka in Central Ontario, Canada. It is located almost entirely in the Township municipality of Lake of Bays, which is named after the lake, with the exception of the southwest arm of the lake which is in the Town of Huntsville. Ontario Highway 35 runs north and east of the lake.

Black Lake is a lake in the Hudson Bay drainage basin in the Unorganized Part of Kenora District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) long and 0.6 kilometres (0.4 mi) wide and lies at an elevation of 372 metres (1,220 ft), 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) northeast of Superior Junction and Highway 642, 4 kilometres (2 mi) southwest of McDougall Mills and 1.3 kilometres (0.8 mi) south of Rosnel. The primary outflow is an unnamed creek north to Botsford Lake on the Marchington River, which flows via the English River, the Winnipeg River and the Nelson River to Hudson Bay. The CN transcontinental rail line crosses the creek between Black Lake and Botsford Lake.
Botsford Lake is a lake in the Hudson Bay drainage basin in Kenora District in northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is about 15 kilometres (9 mi) long and 2.2 kilometres (1.4 mi) wide, is at an elevation of 357 metres (1,171 ft), and lies between the settlements of Superior Junction and McDougall Mills; Rosnel is on the south shore of the lake. The CN transcontinental rail line travels the along the entire south shore. Highway 642 runs west of the lake, and Highway 516 runs approximately parallel to the north shore of the lake at a distance of about 6 kilometres (4 mi).
Kakagi Lake, also known as Crow Lake, is a lake in both Unorganized Kenora District and the township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls, Kenora District, in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is just north of the community of Nestor Falls, and right across Ontario Highway 71 from Stevens Bay on Lake of the Woods. It also feeds Lake of the Woods through a series of lakes starting with Cedartree Lake.
