The 2008 ICC World Cricket League Division Five is a cricket tournament that took place between 23 and 31 May 2008 in Jersey. It formed part of the ICC World Cricket League and qualification for the 2011 World Cup tournament. Afghanistan won the competition. They went on to qualify for the 2015 Cricket World Cup and gain Test status in 2017.
The Carlsberg 1997 ICC Trophy was a cricket tournament played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia between 24 March and 13 April 1997. It was the Cricket World Cup qualification tournament for the 1999 Cricket World Cup.
The Quadrangular Series in Ireland was a One Day International cricket tournament, contested between three associate nations and one full member, from 10 to 15 July 2007, following the conclusion of the West Indies' tour of England. The matches were played in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The 2008 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier was the inaugural tournament of ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier and was played between 2 and 5 August 2008 in Stormont, Belfast in Northern Ireland. The top three played in the 2009 ICC World Twenty20, the international championship of Twenty20 cricket. The six competing teams were: Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, The Netherlands and Scotland.
The 2010 ICC World Cricket League Division Four was a cricket tournament that took place in August 2010 in Italy. It formed part of the World Cricket League competition administered by the International Cricket Council, the international governing body for cricket. The United States won the tournament, defeating Italy by 8 wickets in the final.
The Australian cricket team toured England and Ireland in June and July 2012. Australia played a One Day International (ODI) against Ireland on 23 June, and a five-match ODI series against England from 29 June to 10 July. They also played two List A tour matches against English county sides Leicestershire Foxes and Essex Eagles. The tour was put in jeopardy at the start of June 2012, when industrial action was threatened by the Australian Cricketers' Association because of a dispute over the inclusion of performance-related pay in the contract between the players and Cricket Australia.
The 2013 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier was played in November 2013 in the United Arab Emirates and is a part of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier series. This edition of the qualifier for the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 was an expanded version comprising ten qualifiers from regional Twenty20 tournaments in addition to the top six finishers of the previous edition. The groups were announced by the ICC on 7 August 2013.
The 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, for the 2016 World Twenty20, was held from 6 to 26 July 2015. The tournament was hosted by both Ireland and Scotland. 51 matches were played among 14 nations, down from 72 matches among 16 nations previously. The tournament formed part of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier series, with the top six teams going forward to the qualifying round of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 tournament.
The England cricket team visited Ireland on 8 May 2015 for a single One Day International (ODI). In February 2015, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that the current England ODI captain, Eoin Morgan, was allowed to miss the match due to prior commitments with the Indian Premier League. On 28 April, James Taylor would take Morgan's place for the first time. England initially named 11 players in their squad for the match, but called up Adil Rashid and Mark Wood from the Test squad after they missed out on selection for the 3rd Test against the West Indies.
The 2015–2017 ICC Intercontinental Cup was the seventh edition of the ICC Intercontinental Cup, an international first-class cricket tournament between leading associate members of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The tournament took place during 2015 to 2017. It ran in parallel with the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship, but with slightly different teams. As Ireland and Afghanistan had qualified for the ICC One Day International Championship ranking qualification process, they were replaced by Kenya and Nepal in the limited over event; however they continued to play the four-day event.
The Scottish cricket team toured Ireland from 18 to 21 June 2015 to play four Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Scotland won the four-match series 2–0, with two games declared no-results due to rain. Originally planned as a three-match series, an extra game was added to the schedule after the second match was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain. The tour was a warm-up for the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier which took place in Ireland the following month.
The Sri Lanka national cricket team toured England from 8 May to 5 July 2016 for a three-match Test series, a five-match One Day International (ODI) series and a one-off Twenty20 International (T20I) against the England cricket team. England won the Test series 2–0, the ODI series 3–0 and won the one-off T20I match by 8 wickets.
The Afghanistan cricket team toured Ireland in July 2016 to play five One Day Internationals (ODIs) matches at Stormont, Belfast. It was the first time Ireland played a five-match ODI series. The series was drawn 2–2, with the first match being abandoned due to rain.
The Bangladesh National Women's Cricket team toured Ireland in September 2016 for a series of two One day internationals (ODI) and two T20Is (T20I) against the Irish side. All the matches were held in Bready Cricket Club in Tyrone.
Maginn Park is a football stadium located in Buncrana, County Donegal, Republic of Ireland. It is used by the amateur Inishowen Football League for staging cup finals and other important matches. During the 2017 League of Ireland season, the ground served as the temporary home of Derry City.
The Afghanistan cricket team toured Ireland in August 2018 to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) matches against the Ireland cricket team. Afghanistan won the T20I series 2–0, after the third match was abandoned due to overnight rain and a wet outfield. Afghanistan won the ODI series 2–1.
The West Indies women's cricket team toured England to play the England women's cricket team in June 2019. The tour consisted of three Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs) and three Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is). The WODI games were part of the 2017–20 ICC Women's Championship. Prior to their visit to England, the West Indies women's team also toured Ireland to play three WT20I matches. England women won the WODI series 3–0. With the victory in the third WODI, it was England's 13th-consecutive win across all formats. England won the T20I series 1–0, after two matches were abandoned due to rain.
The 2019 Inter-Provincial Trophy was the seventh edition of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 22 June to 18 August 2019. It was the third edition of the competition to be played with full Twenty20 status. The competition was split into two halves, each branded as a T20 Festival. The first half was played in June, and the second half was played in August. Leinster Lightning were the defending champions.
The Ireland women's cricket team played the Netherlands women's cricket team in July 2021. The tour consisted of four Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) matches, with all the fixtures being played at The Village, Dublin. Ireland's last international matches were in May 2021 against Scotland, while the Netherlands last played an international match in August 2019. Heather Siegers was named as the captain of the Dutch team for the series, replacing Juliët Post.
The Ireland women's cricket team toured Scotland in September 2022 to play three Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) matches. This was the first time that The Grange Club in Edinburgh hosted a full women's international match.
