William Boyd Rankin is a Northern Irish former cricketer who played international cricket for Ireland, and briefly also played for England. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He is the brother of fellow cricketer David Rankin.
Ravinder Singh Bopara is an English cricketer who plays for Sussex County Cricket Club in one day cricket and has represented the England national team. Originally a top-order batsman, his developing medium pace bowling has made him a batting all rounder in the one day game. Bopara has also played for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League, Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League and Chittagong Vikings in the Bangladesh Premier League. Bopara was a member of the England team that won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.
Eoin Joseph Gerard Morgan is an Irish and English former cricketer and current commentator. He captained the England cricket team in limited overs cricket from 2015 until his international retirement in June 2022. He is widely considered as one of the greatest ever captains of England. Under his captaincy, England won the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, the first time they won the tournament, along with reaching the finals of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20, where the team lost to the West Indies by 4 wickets. Morgan was a member of the England team that won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.
The 2009 Ashes series was that year's edition of the long-standing and storied cricket rivalry between England and Australia, and was part of the Australian cricket tour of England in 2009. Starting on 8 July 2009, England and Australia played five Tests, with England winning the series 2–1. England thus reclaimed The Ashes from Australia, who had won the previous series in 2006–07. Andrew Strauss became just the second England captain in 20 years, alongside Michael Vaughan in 2005, to win the Ashes.

Malahide Cricket Club was founded in 1861 and is situated within Malahide Castle demesne, near the railway station. The club has over 400 members and is open all year round. The club currently fields 20 teams.

The tour was put in jeopardy at the start of June 2012, when industrial action was threatened by the Australian Cricketers' Association because of a dispute over the inclusion of performance-related pay in the contract between the players and Cricket Australia.

The New Zealand team also competed in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy between the ODI series and T20I series. The tour followed England's tour of New Zealand two months earlier.
The Sri Lanka national cricket team toured England from 13 May to 24 June 2014 for a Twenty20 International (T20I), five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Test matches against the England cricket team. They also played three one-day and one four-day tour matches against English county sides, as well as preceding the entire tour with a two-match ODI series against Ireland. Sri Lanka won the Test series 1–0, the ODI series 3–2 and the one-off T20I.
Malahide Cricket Club Ground or The Village is a cricket ground in Malahide, Ireland, situated in the Lady Acre field of Malahide Castle grounds. The ground is owned by Malahide Cricket Club. The ground has been developed to a capacity of 11,500, making it Ireland's biggest cricket venue; it officially opened for international cricket in 2013. In November 2017, it was confirmed as the venue for Ireland's first men's Test match, when they played Pakistan in May 2018.

It was Sri Lanka's first seven-match ODI series played at home. Sri Lanka won the 7-match series 5–2. The series marked the final international matches that Mahela Jayawardene played in his home country and Kumar Sangakkara's final ODIs at home before their retirements after the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
The New Zealand national cricket team toured England from 8 May to 23 June 2015 for two Test matches, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and a Twenty20 International (T20I) against the England cricket team. They also played two four-day tour matches and a one-day match against English county sides. England won the first Test at Lord's before New Zealand claimed victory in the second Test at Headingley to level the series. England then took an early lead in the ODI series after hitting more than 400 runs for the first time in their history in the first ODI at Edgbaston, before New Zealand reclaimed the lead with successive wins at The Oval and the Rose Bowl, only for England to mount successful run chases in the last two ODIs at Trent Bridge and the Riverside Ground to claim the series 3–2. England then won the only T20I at Old Trafford by 56 runs.
The Sri Lanka national cricket team toured England from 8 May to 5 July 2016 for a three-match Test series, a five-match One Day International (ODI) series and a one-off Twenty20 International (T20I) against the England cricket team. England won the Test series 2–0, the ODI series 3–0 and won the one-off T20I match by 8 wickets.
The Pakistan cricket team toured England in May 2019 to play five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and one Twenty20 International (T20I) match ahead of the 2019 Cricket World Cup. The fixtures were part of both teams' preparation for the tournament. Three matches were played against English county sides as part of the tour, with 50-over matches played against Kent and Northants, and a Twenty20 match played against Leicestershire.
